Oh boy, Ms. Damn went and set it off with an art thread! Favs are Picasso, Dali, Hiroshige, Utamaro, Yoshitoshi, Miro, and many others. I'll post some pics of the art collection later today.
As stated in that other thread, big Ed R. is my man. But, he got me into a lot of the west coast stuff from the 60s.
Ed Ruscha
This new Course of Empire series is ;facemelt;
Wayne Thiebaud
Bruce Nauman
John Baldessari
To that end, I really like the conceptual types.
Tom Friedman
This piece is "Hot Balls," which is a collection of balls he stole over the course of a few months.
Tim Hawkinson
This is his, "Self Portrait (Height Determined by Weight)" where he poured his weight in molten lead into a cast of his body, letting the weight determine the height.
We have quite a few Ruscha works here at the Center. He had a big retrospective @ the Whitney recently. U should cop the book if u dont own one. He helped bring text-based work to the game.

I caught the show at the National Gallery last year, and picked up that book. I really got into his photos as well. I just love his style and sense of humor.
Lee Friedlander, master of self-portraiture, documenterian of american music, fetishist of modern ephemera, king of the visual pun and photographic layerist non-pareil
nice picks. My place of employment owns some of these pieces. co-sign on Tom Friedman. have you ever seen the lucky charms box he cut and rebuilt into 4 smaller boxes?

Yeah, his crafted stuff is great, but I love the weirdo stuff even more. "1000 Hours of Staring," when he stared at a piece of paper over the course of 4 years for 1,000 hours. I just love the idea behind it, the dedication, and what it says about the meditative act of looking at art. Call me a sucker for a blank piece of paper, but if you call it 'art,' I will too.

Richard Hamilton, "Just what is it that makes the modern home so different, so appealing."
Had to look up the title, but knew the artist; the Tootsie Pop is credited by some as giving Pop Art its name.
Cosign Joseph Cornell. I read "Utopia Parkway," last year, and it is highly recommended to anyone into his work. Bizarre man, great talent.

The last Jack Sparr record and the "Sleep Over" covers he did were incredible.
