just after he popped out to end the 7th. Then I get a text message
from my boy Pe*e 30 minutes later, "PAPI IS THE MAN!" and I could
pretty much figure out what happened...

Won three playoff games in the '04 playoffs, including those two elimination games agains the Yankees.
Had FOUR game winning hits in ONE month last September as the Sox were making their final playoff push.
When the chips are down, there is no discussion about who you want; Big Papi is becoming a legend.
And to think, we acquired him for just over a mil.
Papi is the epitome of a clutch player.
Just a shame that he doesn't get nearly half the press / dap that A-Rod does - who, IMO, is the complete OPPOSITE of clutch.
Hands down dude is THE most overrated player in the game today.
'Nuff said.
Hell yeah.
As a Sox hattoire, I get mad shook any time Papi walks to the plate.
That dude just fucking crushes the ball, and you can pretty much bet that if he's up and the Sox need a HR, it's money.
again and again.
hi m*rk...
at this point, i think he's the best clutch hitter i've ever seen.
i'm amazed he still gets pitches in these sitiuations, even w/ manny behind him.
Our bullpen needs some serious help.
Papi tho. speechless. There needs to be a new graemlin just for papi. the "game over" rubiks cube, but with legs, saying "walk off" haha
Personally tho, i am gonna have more fun telling my kids about Dave Roberts stealing that base in game four. Papis back-to-back game winners were one thing, but fucking Dave Roberts man. Thats what baseball is all about, one stolen base that turns the tide to changing history. In an interview he said that one of his mentors told him when he was coming up that one day he would have a chance to steal a base that would be the most important thing he ever did in baseball. Roberts said he remembered that when he was on first, and without being told to hold at first, and without being told to steal (they left it up to him), he decided this was that moment.
I think I'll go re-watch my tivo'd ALCS game 4 now.
thanks ortiz.

ps: Pap still hasn't blown a save in which we LOST the game.
