NOT BLACK ENOUGH FOR SOULSTRUT????!?!?!? Personally, this song is chill and I check dorkmag.com on the regular. I thought I'd post this because it would spark some discussion hattery.

This has been out for several weeks now, Young Guzzics.
so you're saying you've already hatted on this?
d'oh.
Get your hatt-dar updated son.
Someone needs to work on the mix of that song. You can tell they weren't in the same session for that. Pharrell's got no overdubs. Song sounds a bit off. I'm surprised the Pharrell version hadn't been done initially.
But surprise of surprises, the CD also included Lupe Fiasco's "Kick Push (remix)."
So considering the fact that
a) this was not an event thrown by white folks
and
b) Young Phonics' link title
now may be a good time for certain Soulstrutters to "reconnected to the streets" by "getting their Skateboard-P on."
strawman alert
No ulterior motive. Just reporting an interesting coincidence.
Though in the interest of full disclosure, I will admit that I didn't play it that night.
Yes, but nobody has ever complained that Lupe Fiasco isn't sufficiently Black--the chief complaint has been that rapping about your quest to meet a girl that skates and then grinding off into the sunset with her is corny.
Can I also add that dude's voice is like listening to a 7 year old whine about barbies?
im really feeling the production... i dont have the 12" in front of me but it's some filipino group that was sampled. if any of you strutters could point me to an empeethree of the original it would be most appreciated.
He was a boy
She was a girl
Can i make it any more obvious
He was a punk
She did ballet
What more can i say
He wanted her
She'd never tell secretly she wanted him as well
But all of her friends
Stuck up their nose
They had a problem with his baggy clothes
He was a skater boy
She said see you later boy
He wasn't good enough for her
She had a pretty face
But her head was up in space
She needed to come back down to earth
5 years from now
She sits at home
Feeding the baby she's all alone
She turns on tv
Guess who she sees
Skater boy rockin up MTV
She calls up her friends
They already know
And they've all got
Tickets to see his show
She tags along
Stands in the crowd
Looks up at the man that she turned down
He was a skater boy
She said see you later boy
He wasn't good enough for her
Now he's a super star
Slamming on his guitar
Does your pretty face see what he's worth?
That also is not a good look.
This is a five-star post, however.
