Although soul music is probably what I am into most,I have to admit I've always been a sucker for that AM Gold.Songs that were burned into my memory forever during days spent driving around with my Mom in her PlymouthDuster in the early 70's, or on the old AM radio she kept running in the kitchen throughout the morning.So it stands to reason, soulful covers of AM Gold songshave a special place in my life. May I add that beautiful Curtis Mayfield live version of "We've Only Just Begun" and if it wasn't already mentioned the Main Ingredient version of "Summer Breeze". HOTHOT HOT HOT HOT HOTHOT. I would add more but I'm not at the cribbo right now. Everybody plaese add on quikly today and make this like at least a 3-pager before Pap Day begins and destroys the brains of the Soulstrut collective in it's entirety.

Here in Chicago at least, the original "Tin Man" by America was actually played regularly on the black stations.
Since so many classic soul hits crossed over to AM pop radio anyway, at first I thought this thread would be Nixon-era pop-soul like Dobie Gray's "Drift Away," Al Wilson's "Show & Tell," O.C. Smith's "Little Green Apples," Gene Redding's "This Heart," the Fifth Dimension (take your pick), etc..
