I got the same thing in reverse. "Walk Away Renee" is the only Left Banke song I ever liked. I heard a best-of in a store one time and I was all like

"You're Gonna Miss Me" was a hit, I used to see it every once in a while... never mint, but back when there WERE 45s in my area that was one of them
It was a hit, but only regionally...I don't know where you live (Texas? California? I think those states were where "Miss Me" hit the biggest), but out where I am I'm more likely to see the Bubble Puppy***[/b] than I am the Elevators themselves.

As if you all didn't know (in case there are some of you), this LP is a MUST. Same as The Shocking Blue's US catchall LP, which is at an all time eBay low.
I actually just snagged the Poppy Family LP, and actually was thinking it was comparable to the Shocking Blue LP as a matter of fact (which really surprised me, I wasn't expecting it to be that dope)
To keep this relevant to the thread, the Shocking Blue 45 "Hot Sand" is incredible and isn't on LP in the States
bluesnag, as you probably already know there are many other good-to-great singles from the bands you listed...
When I said "same as," I only meant that both were great, low-priced LPs that are even better than their low-priced singles. They're both under the "pop music" banner, but are fairly different in sound. Didn't mean to be confusing.

Are you aware of any good sources for Canadian garage 45s? I've been hunting for a copy of 'A Someday Fool' by MG & the Escorts, and I know it charted in Canada.

Almost all my digging has been in NC & VA. Like I said, VG- at best copies would turn up semiregularly back when I actually could find 45s to look through
Bubble Puppy on the other hand is straight-up common. I've turned at least a few people on to this one, and its easy to find a clean copy for $2-3.
yeah, i just listed my favorite single from each band listed. although some of those are the only singles i have from that band, like the balloon farm. do they have anything else worth seeking out?
oh, and thanks to everyone for the replies so far. i'm definitely seeing some new stuff here that i didn't know about.
You're probably talking about that 1970 album on Colossus, but don't forget that 80's comp on the 21 label (an Atlantic subsidiary) that appeared out of nowhere after Bananarama's version of "Venus" became a hit. No liner notes - you're lucky to get their pictures. And don't forget the blurb on the cover that reminds us that "this album contains the ORIGINAL 'Venus'" (or some such foolishness). I don't know if this was an Atlantic tax write-off or what, but this turns up cheap as well.

my bubble puppy story:
two years ago I was training this 18 year old kid as a new employee. He was a really sheltered dude and was heavy into church, it was clear that he didnt get out much and we didnt have anything in common. Anyway, we start making small talk, and when we got to the subject of music he noted that he liked Creed and the ChiliPeppers, so rather than bore him with names he has never heard I simply explained that I listened to 'old rock records' and that was it. However, a few minutes later I catch him singing and humming to himself "...hot smoke and sassafrass many things will come to pass...". It flipped me out big time, and I kept asking if he was messing with me. Turns out his parents were heavy into psych and that record got heavy rotation at his house.
