Many Japanese men like Hentai films (cartoon porn) because they can show genetalia and penetration, both of which are censored in Japanese film. Many Japanese people also enjoy collecting dolls, magazines, trinkets, etc. of their favorite characters, so why not Hentai characters too?
Man, Japanese business men are serious about those dolls. Where I worked in Japan, it was near a famous building for anime and these dolls, I used to dig near there so I would go up in that spot. There were hundreds of dudes in suits on their breaks peepin' the dolls. They got raers, commons, sealed, VG+ shits... those dolls are next level!
peace.
If it's a figurine, or a picture for that matter, is it still condidered child porn? I'm wondering where that line is drawn, because it seems like if you consider a drawing child porn, you might consider a written or oral story to be child porn. And if that's the case, all the comedians in The Aristocrats are in big, big trouble.
I just watched the aristocrats tonight.... bob sagat was a surprise
Fun fact: in Japan in many areas it's legal to pay to have sex with a 13 year old girl. A recent study found japanese the least gratified culture sexually, I think most was austria. (I forget who did it, & plead the fifth, heard it on NPR)
They have managed to be simultaneously the most open and most repressed culture re: sex.
Yup....
Well, that phenomena exists in many countries where....
Black people don't actually live, even in Mexico.
What I was trying to get at is Japan is on a completely other trip, not as simple as there being a place where "black people don't actually live". There's a status associated with it, fetishization of american african-americans, etc. Sometimes I think as a culture they are uber-fanboys, whether that means being otaku, teenage girl fetishists, or pretending to take on another culture physically.
legally i dont know, thats an excellent question. but i was referring to the fact that the figures depicted nude female children in clearly sexual poses. i guess that isnt 'child porn' per se, as they are little pieces of molded plastic. but they didnt seem to have any other connotation than "im 8 and id like to have sex right now". i guess if it isnt a photo or video depiction its not actually porn (?). so the aristocrats folks are fine. (and everything is ok in japan because its japan.)

I didn't think it was as funny (read: kitchy) as many seemed to, but I was defnitely intrigued by the idea of surreal political porn.
I agree the child porn aspect of this stuff is very disturbing. No one wants you to be selling anything like this in the US. Neither does any prosecutor want to take it to court for fear of losing and opening the flood gates. A few years ago there was a disturbing trend of photo-shopping children's faces onto porn pics. I think it was outlawed.
