Hate the south now, but there's really no turning back.

I'm not a hater... far from it... but the stuff is just getting overplayed... and there's a lot of subpar shit that is coming out of the south right now (as opposed to GOOD southern shit).

Gotta agree w/this... I turned the radio off a couple months ago when all the rap songs were either D4FranchizeBoyz or TI/Jeezy rips...

But REALLY... like I said earlier... there really isn't much going on nationwide at the moment, at least not that I'm hearing... its not just the South...

I can feel that. Like we were saying about Rick Ross, a straight up Jeezy rip IMO...

  • dude, not saying the comparison's entirely accurate (although I do see similarities) but let the girl live - she hasn't had a chance to make 2-3 albums yet!

he needs to keep Mary's name out his mouth!

I was just in Denver last weekend (see note on bottom) and spent quite a bit of time driving around the area tuned into a handful of stations including whatever Clear Channel urban contempo station is at home there. I heard three songs repeatedly. Like you could not fucking get away from them:

    1) Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It
    2) Temperature's Up

I also heard Chris Brown's *RUN IT* twice which was weird since that song is mad old but whatever, someone still had it in rotation. But seriously, Dem Franchise Boys and Sean Paul were on every 15 minutes or so it felt.

Re: Denver, memo to Jinx: went through that spot you and JP weren't able to make it to that *cough cough* one time. It was pretty cool, I think you would have liked it but just to clarify, it is most definitely NOT a "Black" record store by any stretch of the imagination. More like white suburban nerd heaven given its mix of vinyl, board games, D&D manuals and one of the more impressive collections of vintage porn I've seen.

WT was solid too. I should have spent more time with the 45s but didn't have enough hours. Did manage to pull a VG- Mickey and Soul Generation ("Iron Leg" on Maxwell) which was fine by me for .50. Thanks for the suggestions.

I don't know how current these lists are, because the songs seem a little old to still be on top 10 lists. Grillz, still!?!?! As far as what you gonna hear bumpin' out the trunk of a Caprice,Caddy,Cutlass,Regal,Chevelle,Lincoln, etc is that Young Joc,Jeezy,TI,(actually just any Southern Smoke,Gangsta Grillz, etc type mixtapes)...That Young Joc is the jam of the moment around here,though...im feeling it.

Even more garbage. I do like the TI, Robin Thicke and 3 6 though. Christian Milian got a nice beat and the women in Black Buddafly are quite attractive. Oh and Keyshia Cole could most definately get it. I find myself listening to Baltimore's station more than the DC stations. For the most part they play all over the board during the mix shows and can blend records better than 95% of the DC Radio DJs.
