I went out for drinks with JayBreezie and all he would do was talk about SoulStrut. I couldn't relate to him anymore...making cracks about "Don't hate the Sayer" and shit...it's like he became a different person....I just didn't know hi anymore... He would sit there with his beer and then, all of the sudden, show me random images from his backpack illustrating his previous point or reference some obscure joke...for the sake of our friendship I signed on and have been doing the same ever since...

God Bless you Soul Strut...god bless you every one!

Nah, for me, I was on the Crates list for a long time, and eventually found myself here.

A long time ago I did a search for, musta been some records, I don't know, but wasn't interested in any forum, post it yourself, discussion board type thing. I really can't remember specifically.

When I finally did get into the forum thing, it was via "Rec Pit" (now the MARSH), home of the "Shit Brigade". These fuckers loved to fuel there moonshine steels(sic) with broken bones and noobie blood. Ask the wrong question, and you'd hear motorcycles roll up for the ebikerbeatdown. Since a lot of working succesfull studio cats hung there it was a good place to learn a little something. It didn't hurt that half these cats live near me. I should go check them follies out.

Anyway, then I was at Stones Throw when this place went down. A bunch of funny motherfuckers came over stirring up shit. I was like, "Oh yeah, Soulstrut" I'll give it a second look. I haven't been dissapointed. A bunch of cool motherfuckers, some of which have good rekkid knowledge. It's also good for a few laughs. What any healthy board should be.

I get the feeling that Archaic and motown_67 are the same person. Look at their avatars and LOC: quotations...two of the same? or are all SoulStrutters just talking to themselves because we think too similarly but can't stand ourselves?

SS comes up alot when you google for records, I had been coming here for a minute, first reading Motown67's reviews, and also the Ish.

That, and I've been on Small Chizzy's BlackCrack list for a minute, and this board would be mentioned once in a while, so once while on here reading reviews, I wandered in, lurked for a while, and eventually let myself be open to all the abuse this place has to offer...

question: how did yall come to this glorious place? the bigtimers having been here for a minute, assumingly, found it because they are bigtimers. but tha little folks, well, we have our stories.

i was searching for the early memphix catalogue on google, and there was a dope thread trying to figure out memphix 3.. and i noted the site, but didnt join. later in the month, i was after the notorious gene tilley/jb green 45 and soulstrut came up again on a googly. so i joined. donated 5 bucks and. now i strutter

    gnarls.

i found soulstrut because someone was talking shit about me on there.

    Hi, that would be me

I found this place by accident through a google search. I just checked the front page for months then one day I clicked on the message board and here I am.

You can all thank me with raers for bringing AP with my gentle come hithers.

Same with me. I listened to the mixes for months until I found the forum. My first post was a reply to Raw Power post about a Chakakas record. That was in 2002 (?). I had bought a stash of those a few days before in Belgium which resulted I a reply from a felow Belgian digger. It's actually the first board where I ever posted and haven't logged out ever since.

I can??t quite put it together either, but I THINK I came here by way of someone dissing this board on ughh.com (ughh!). Back when I was just getting into DJing and sampling and such, there was NOONE I could talk to about it in my real world surroundings, so I headed on the internet to find like-minded people. I wanted to hear dope music, talk about records and have a little fun (as much as you can have on text-basis), and when I found the Strut it had (and still has) all those things + some damn nice people.

I don??t post on other boards anmore...

I was looking at the rehash web page that I had randomly googled, and I saw High-c list something about how someone found the sample for mass appeal and had posted it on this website.

    So i joined up.

    Via Vinyl Vulture (I think)

O-Dub mentioned it on his Solesides blog and it was like a whole other world opened up. All kinds of deep deep knowledge well beyond anything I'd encountered before. I wasn't up on vinyl vulture or any other sites and this is still the only message board I've ever messed around on.

My first post was something along the lines of records as halloween costumes and I was looking for a record cover with a profile of a face looking to the left to match up with the Manu Dibango one I was gonna affix to my head and wander around like a TIE fighter all night. People recommended Moondog (which my little dude ass was not up on at the time) and Billy Paul which I had, but forgot about. Somebody (Tom Thumbs?) was all over me for biting B+ or something, but I honestly hadn't seen what he'd done, and nobody ever filled me in on what that was all about. Then the post derailed into people fighting about dumb shit, but at least my halloween costume was figured out, so I was impressed. That was October of '03...

  • I'm new to the site, but basically read an article in Wax Poetics that mentioned this site amogst others. Checked it out, thought this boys know what their talkin about, and are in to the same stuff as me, so though I'd better get involved!

Crates List, I still sort of miss having my email full of interesting music stuff instead of Viagra ads.
