Am I too late for the trend?

Howdy!I guess I should introduce myself before I start smartin' off around here.I started buying vinyl by the truckload in the late eighties when peoplewere switching to CDs and I've been hoarding ever since. My musical tastes are immense and ever-expanding. I've lived in an around Austin most of my life and some of you may recognize me from Texas shows or even visited my old north Austin dungeon. A little over a year ago I moved to the hill country between Austin and San Antonio and I really like it out here. Now I've got a few acres to run around on and plenty of storage for my wax, although there's not many digging prospects unless you're into bluegrass. But the move allowed me to uncover records that have been in storage for years, so I'm still mostly occupied with rediscovering my old scores.Sticky

    Welcome, nice introduction!

There are more than a few Austin Strutters on here.

What gems have you rediscovered lately?

    -M

  • Thanks. Too many to mention, but a Bubbha Thomas and the Lightmen LP
was one of the first things I uncovered while moving.
My dad brought over a truckload of 45s I had abandoned in his
barn over 10 years ago and it was fun going through those,
although icky digging. It was also interesting to compare what
I knew about records then to what I know now. Some of them
were marked for the dime bin at a store I used to consign at!
Let me work on this picture posting thing...

I figured you'd HAVE to be from Texas, since your thread is paraphrased after an old Texas punk comp from the late 70's or early 80's (Are We Too Late For The Trend?). Welcome, bro.

  • Here's a pop psych 45 from the barn stash.
Back then we couldn't consign anything in the store
unless it was "near mint." This was VG and had the dime bin mark
(my initials on the label) but never made it to the store.
I sold it last summer though.

Thank you. I'm feeling at home already.
I was wondering if anyone would catch that
and it didn't take long. I bought my copy at the
Austin show rockadelic table almost 15 years ago.

Thanks. I'd use that for my avatar except my web site is
messed up right now, or more accurately the crappy
ms frontpage software I'm stuck with.
I'll get it straightened out later tonight hopefully.

    Welcome!

    That 45 stash sounds delish!

  • I'm tending bar one time down in the lower east side in New York. A tough paloma comes in there by the name of Chicago Molly. I cautioned her, 'None of your peccadilloes in here.' There was some hot lunch on the bar, comprising of succotash, Philadelphia Cream Cheese, and asparagus with mayonnaise. She dips her mitt down into this melange. I'm yawning at the time, and she hits me right in the mug with it. I jumps over and I knocks her down.

Pickwick seems to know everything about everything, know? A Godfrey Daniel genius I'm inclined to say....

It was actually some of the most disgusting vinyl I have
ever gone through. Vermin infested and gritty from years
of dirt dauber nests, and records stuck together with
a yellow substance I know didn't come from cats.
But there were just enough intermittent gems to keep me going.

LOL When I introduce myself as stickey people will usually
ask how I got that nickname. Then they'll think about it a
second and say "Never mind, I don't want to know."
