What's up with that Jerry Peters lp?

Mercury & Capitol are the kings of 70's obscure releases....

This is a real nice Donny Hathaway meets Gil-Scott Heron vocal LP with a couple of instrumentals....maybe slightly on the pop/orchestrated side but no more so than "What's Going On".

    Hey Mr. Postman...

  • I had insomnia all night and thus was able to make it to the flea market nice and early this morning, before it started raining. I found a lot of 45s and a bunch of 12" 80's classics (hip hop, disco, electro). Most of the 45s were unsleeved and thus off-condition, but most are playing nicely once I clean them.
Irma Thomas - Wish Someone Would Care (ummm, best song ever?)
    Maceo & All King's Men - Got To Get'cha
Parliaments - I Want To Testify
Ruby Andrews - You Made A Believer Out Of Me
Jan Bradley - Mama Didn't Lie
Ruby Johnson - Come To Me Darling
Young Hearts - I've Got Love For My Baby
Lonnie Hewitt - I Gotta Keep My Bluff In (spent a buck on it on the off-chance it would play through the edge warp, but nah, it has a future as a bin dip receptacle)
    Toussaint McCall - Shimmy
The Forum - Trip On Me
plus a bunch more that may or may not clean up.

Am I the only one who thinks records sound better if you dig them off the concrete at 7 a.m. vs. waiting for the mailman to bring your newest ebay transaction (not that I don't partake in the latter myself)

No. I pop a boner everytime I go out in the field and pull something decent.

If they're scratched to sh*t from being on the concrete for so long, then no. Otherwise, yes.

    i see you have some E's, D's, and C's.
i personally would have assigned The Chubbies an A, regardless of what that may mean on the price-o-meter.

Personally, I would've assigned them a chubbie in the A.

    Some shit. All cheap.
I have a lot of Cold Blood records, but I knew this was
"the one" people wanted, and I finally found a copy for under $10...
under $5 for that matter...anyway, SHIT IS FUNKY AS HELL "Kissing My Love"
    is a monster.
Barbarella OST has some madness on it, although it's a pretty rough copy.
Actually, that's an issue with most of this stuff...prolly why they were all
    around $3.
Chris Smither is Poppy folk raer.
Very nice record for any y'all folk headz like me.

    Also, in the mailbox:

Courtesy of Soul Strut's own Awww Damn!

how's that cult music of cuba rackord?

Crude "field recordings" with lots of drums and chanting....quality of the recordings leave alot to be desired and quite honestly, it all sounds the same to me from one cut to the next.
