Noz raids the spymania crates!!!! Fresh from the experimental drum & bass days circa 1996.
the funniest thing about those spymania records is when they'd wholesale jack shit from like bionic booger breaks and use it as an interlude. but yeah, i think most of their early catalog actually holds up pretty well.
the dial record is actually pretty far removed from the other releases. there's like one token fakey squarepusher type track and the rest is some pretty dark melodic type stuff that doesn't even use S>drums/S> the amen break
Count on snowed out flea - everybody is doing a Chicken Little this weekend, two family parties for tomorrow were cancelled, everybody was "stocking up" at the supermarket...it gets so ridiculous, esp since when I was growing up it snowed all winter for 5 months, now we get like 4 storms a year and everyone has a meltdown over them...
no shit. i was experiencing some serious cart rage with these mother fuckers clogging up the dairy isle and keeping me from my thick and creamy royal rasberry yoplait.

Maybe it was strictly subliminal, but I could not resist grabbing this when I saw it beneath the register at Good Records last week - shit is outstanding. The "7th Chamber" remix melted my face right the fuck off. This has been true with just about every mix I got from SS.
I got the impression that some features were being cut back from the forums to help beef up other areas of the website, mainly the mixes for dl. If that's so, I'm all for it - as much as I enjoy the studied bickering that goes on in here, the music made by those who hang has probably been the best thing I have taken away from this place. Y'all need to click on that link up there...
this was always my favorite. some serious high school memories there. sounds a bit less dated than the others (especially today's active lifestyles) upon revisting.
Welcome to the world of One-Der-Ful / Mar-V-Lus, my friend. It's of even worse quality than the usual 45s from that label, because it's sort of a boot. Pickwick can elucidate. Brother James?
But don't let this stop you from snagging 45s from their "Essica" subsidiary. Curtis Smith's "The Living End" is a solid Northern Stomper, as the Brits say.
Me? I'm listening to a beautiful, beautiful album: Joe Bataan - Singin' Some Soul (Fania)

I think it is a boot, myself...they used to advertise this LP in Goldmine magazine in the eighties, and I believe it was this fucked-up version they were selling.

I really liked this album when it came out. I saw them play with the Thinking Fellers that year. Polvo had no stage presence but they sounded great.
Just finished listening to Mandrill.
I feel your pain. "In Need Of Love" still gets played at the club.

Who was the first person to double up with Sharon Jones?
I'm gonna attempt to get all Nathan Barley later and sync the audio with the battles. You might need a change of underwear.
