OK, so my 'puter was given to me by a friend a few years ago. Anyhow, I was poking around this morning looking for some shit & found a folder of his shit that is useless to me - EI: lots of Jpegs for websites he used to run, etc. I was just gonna dump 'em and free up the space, but when I go to do so it says I don't have permission to. Is there anything I can do?

burn them to a disk and back 'em up?

you may have to log in as a different user.
you could also do a "get info" on the folder, and check under "permissions."

when you empty the trash, try holding option.

if you want to reset the password on the admin account (your friend's), then boot up with the install discs. Hold "C" during startup and you will get to the install os x screen. Instead of installing, head up top to "utilities" and select "reset password".
