Arnold Blair 'Tryin To Get Next To You' (Gemigo) - Curtis allover it...

Legendary 45 over here - so mad indemand in Englun...

    Rez

Produced by Leroy Hutson, not Curtis.

Wish I had kept one of my copies, but you're right - the UK
heads were willing to pay far too well for me to hold onto them.

    Curtis allover it...

    Cos, you got this?

Not CUrtis-related but might as well be.

    K in Canada.

Well in that case the Notations' Superpeople on Gemigo could be there too. Not actually Curtis but might as well be.

Well, at least the Notations' record is on a Curtis-owned label.

  • a couple favorite curtis-involved obscurities:

-new world - "we're gonna make it"/"help the man" (polydor 1972)
-the newday - "just another reason"/"wait a minute" (on top 1969) (also released as the passions on tower)

damn, didn't realize curtis was involved in that newday 45 too - great record. does anyone know: are newday & new world affiliated, or maybe even the same group?
(btw, as a side note: if anyone wants to start saving for their kids' college tuition i will gladly $pend for a vinyl issue of the new world 45. i too am stuck w/ one w/ just the 'other side.' )

  • You can hear the Arnold Blair on the This Time comp. Starting around 49:55

well, i looked at it again and i guess he's not -- they're just covering a fascinations track written by him.

sure has the curtis vibe, though....

  • uh, yeah, that's The Big Deal, not The Big Prize.

For the longest, I thought this was a Curtis Mayfield album.
