    Wow working on one right now... What do you mean by deep?

    Im actually wanting more of the 90's jump offs, and the newer joints like the Wild Boyz version of "drop it like is hot" and "Got it like that"..

    There is some cd-r's floating around that are ill nanna here in D.C.

    Yup.

    I think Delay know his Go Go too, if memory serves.

    I got a buddy who said he still has boxes of old PA tapes from Backyard/Trouble Funk/EU/Junkyard/RE shows...and I know DCDigga recently did a buy over at Maxx Kidd's house and Maxx had classic Go Go acetates and test presses galore up in his house.

    It's too bad Max didn't let them have any of the acetates. No pictures allowed either which was ashame (but understandable after hearing the full story).


    I've got a ton of go-go 12"s, some LPs, promo photos and such.........but as you mentioned Ch#@s, the tapes are where it's at.

    One of the major east coast record distributors is actually owned by Chuck Brown's manager. They used to be the folks responsible for pressing up the Go Go on wax.

    They really aren't doing much anymore because there isn't much profit to be had.

    As far as tapes, I got tapes form these guys back in the day, and I think they are still on it.

    Yeah it's such a shame that Go Go has never had a broad appeal. Though i do get the feeling that it is probably better to see live. It has never seemed like a conventional song based style of music. More like an extended jam session that just grooves on. I bought as much as I could back in the 80s. One of my faves is Mac Attack's 'Art of Drums'. I probably only ahve about one crate's worth.

    Was very hard to source it down here in the 80s.

    Last vinyls I got were the DJ Celo & DJ Flexx triple vinyl collections from a few years back.

    I can't speak on wether it's definitive or not as I got mine a couple months back and it's on my list to read after I finish the few other books I have going. But I can tell you it's about the only book that even covers Go Go at all.

    Go Go is so deeply embedded in DC's culture it's ridiculous. I'll see if I can find an online link to Chuck Brown's new lottery commercial!

    Dude who wrote this book, Kip Lornell, was a professor of mine at GW. He definitely knew his shit and this was a good read. Having a class where the professor explained all of the go go dances was definitely Also, his biography of Leadbelly is out-of-print but worth looking for.
