shameless rip-off or is there more to this than the eye can see?

  • well as for the "shameless ripoff", i can say MY fair was created with no knowledge whatsoever of the first, someone told me about it long after the fact and i was pretty bummed to hear the name was being used elsewhere. i guess it isnt too hard to conjure up the title "nightowl" when talking about folks who stay up late. as for copyrighting or trademarking, either fair would have to be operating in the territory of the other before the name ownership would be an issue, to the best of my knowledge.

as for a fair in chicago, i'll be happy to throw one there at some point.

    cheers yall,
    jules aka djshakey

  • all the usual suspects were in attendance i see. shit is funny. i hope this goes well! a top knotch idea.

  • GREAT IDEA! I know I am not the only dude who has pulled all nighters just to be still drunk and a little confused at early bird.

That's true. Maybe a website partnership would be a better route.

werd. The 1st fair was more than a good time, and cosign on the staying up all night drunk/early bird comment. I remember driving str8 to the edison vinyl only show after spinning til' 6-7am at rubulad with Mike Simonetti, who runs the Troubleman Unlimited label. Was a bit cracked out. Its much better to dig for a few at 3am with a Duvel in one hand. Diggin' in the wee hours rules! Plus the muzak is way hipper than your raer beetle barker show.

disclaimer...I may or may not be romantically involved with said record fair promoter.

  • jesus. talk about too many cooks in the kitchen.

actually I think shit like this is fun, people bring out their heat cos they only have so much time to shine. Besides, who wants to be stuck DJing for an hour or two when there's deals to be had?!
