aka The "Post A Song About Your Hometown" Thread. Here's mine: G N.U.T.T. - Tucson LoveBack in 2000, I was at a show and heard dude performing this song. Never heard of dude before or after that day, but you know my ass was singing along to the chorus. Well, today I found his CD that I never knew existed. (Not that I don't know my town shit, it's just that this dude isn't really "on the radar" even here in town.)Anyways, I figured this would be a good opportunity for dudes to rep their city. I'm also hoping dudes'll put you up on songs about YOUR city. I'd LOVE to know about other Tucson songs. Off the top of my head I can think of The Beatles' "Get Back" (Jo-Jo had a home in Tucson, Arizona) and BONE Thugs "Ghetto Cowboy."Rep yo' shit.Herm

I'm packing my grip
I'm leaving today
I'm taking a trip
California way
I'm gonna settle down and never more roam
And make the San Fernando Valley my home
I'll forget my sins
I'll be making new friends
Where the West begins
And the sunset ends
'Cause I've decided where yours truly should be
And it's the San Fernando Valley for me
I think that I'm safe in stating
(S)he will be waiting
When my lonely journey is done
And kindly old Rev'rend Thomas
Made us a promise
He will make the two of us one
So, I'm hitting the trail
To the cow country
You can forward my mail
Care of R.F.D.
I'm gonna settle down and never more roam
And make the San Fernando Valley my home
Since we are reppin hometowns here ya go!
The Dayton Family-Flint Town.
Absolutely not; nor may you claim a "zing".
Lyrics:
Doing it in the park
Doing it after dark Oh, yeah...>
Rock creek park, Oh, yeah...> rock creek park
Do it, just do it, do it, just do it...
Do it, come on, do it, do it, do it, yeah..., baby, oh..., do it...>
Do it, just do it, do it, just do it...
Do it, come on, do it, baby, do it, do it, come on, do it, ooh..., do it, baby..., oh..., oh..., come on, do it, baby..., yeah..., do it...>

Sorry, I'm unschooled in the ways of the Strut. I saw it used and got a bit eager.
Still, saying though...
In NYC it gets called Mexican Independence Day on the news. :lazy:
But anyway, we are having a white boyfriends of chicana women night. I'm DJing and The Budos and possibly the Dap-Kings are playing live. It'll be pretty firme.
on edit: the Dominicans and Ricans have the flags on hoods thing pretty much sewn up round here.
YES!
Oh, and "Washington DC" by Gil Scott-Heron off 'Moving Target' LP.
Says it all.
They named a whole comedian after the town I grew up in.
Later they morphed into a new wave band, signed a major label contract, fired 2/3 the band and changed their name to Quarterflash.
Twin City Rappers "Twin City Rapp" (see my ISH)
Oliver Sain "St. Louis Breakdown"

word to the slummin Tony Hawk. Was there an "obligatory white guy" trend for rap covers? Like on NWA's first EP you got the cracker with the bottle of Bud surrounded by his OE toting black counterparts?
I almost picked up this album last week.
Shoulda grabbed it. Cheap as chips and the title track's a classic.
