    CORRECT!

    How hot? How much?

  • hit up the aqueduct flea, came up on...

    NOTHING.

even the bootleg kung fu dvds were wack. besides that it was just clothes and shit, but then again, I could have missed the records but I doubt it.

is there some spot in that lot somewhere?

I think I'll just save my loot for thrifts out in bumfuck nowhere when I go upstate for the holidays.

I take it this in NYC. Has Aqueduct ever had records? I've never been but ZigZagRIP mentioned it as a "spot" on record day. hmmmmmm.

Queens seems to have every record ever made hiding somewhere. By the time I'm 60, I'll have em all. Then what do I do? A cool mixtape?

    no

  • yeah, aqueduct is out past jfk in ozone park. its just the parking lot of the race track. your right though, it was posted on record day in the "let a heat spot loose" thread but there were no records in sight and it didnt look like there really would be any there. oh well, atleast I got out of my apartment for the day and didnt spend any money.

I did "find" an og skull snaps performing live at the knitting factory last night. thanks again to everyone here on the board that was involved in making that show happen, it was great. dooley-o was dope, (especially when snaps were playing and he kept yelling at the soundman "TURN UP THE DRUMS!!!!"), did anyone make it out to see him dj after the show? I was talking to him and he told me to come out to chrystie street but I couldn't make it cause I was too tired.

  • haha, yeah, nothing at the track except ponies and degenerates

come on Mark make 'em drool! stop posting and start flossin'!

Dooley-O is that dude. Didn't check his gig due to being in the Knit since 6pm and wanting to get the fuck home, but look for some future gigs involving him and the Snaps, at a venue with better drum mics.... Yamaha/Twix-in-the-mix drummer Tony V was there and the first thing he said was tell the sound man to up the kick and snare. Didn't really happen to satisfactory levels. Hey, there was some slap-bass going on though.

And while I'm name dropping, my girl met Ron Carter yesterday.

OG Stereo gatefold on Verve, blue & silver label, Banana mostly intact, but has been peeled a bit at the top and re-glued
-been looking for an affordable OG of this since 1986...out-of-left field score at an antique store, not cheap, but not bad.

plus a bunch of sealed out-of-print Blue Note CDs
& a copy of Nick Toches' Jerry Lee Lewis bio, "Hellfire"

    About 20 LP's today...some of the highlights

  • I'm loving this digital camera. Hit some old trusties that I hadn't been to in awhile. Got all of these for .50 to $1.

    Top, left to right:

    1) Timmy Thomas - Why Can't we Live Together: This is my second one of this guy. Definately got that low budgement Miami sound, but I like it.
    2) Sugar Billy - Super Duper Love: No cover unfortunately. Anyone?
    3) Eddie Kendricks - All By Myself: I believe this rounds out my Kendricks collection.
    4) Aretha Franklin - This Girl's in Love with You: Hands down, my favorite by her.
    5) Tipica 73 - Rumba Caliente: Salsa record that pretty much goes by the numbers but isn't a snoozer either.
    6) Henry Stephens - Limon Limonero: My broken Spanish can make out that he's Venezuelan but there's absolutely nothing Latin about this record except the singing. The music sounds like mid 60s soul-pop ala Barbara Lewis and the Impressions.
    7) Some Hair bullshit I picked up at a new record store just to buy something. Is this even worth putting my needle on or should it go straight to the bay? Actually, is this even worth putting on the bay? Do the Hair people like this?
    8) Duane Allman Anthology: probably isn't most people's thing but it's got mostly studio work with Aretha, King Curtis, Johnny Jenkins and some other stuff I want to check out.
    9) Lavern Baker - Let me Belong to You: Half jump R&B and half ballads. The ballads are the best part.
    10) Black Heat: No Time to Burn: Scuffed up, but after a good cleaning it played all the way through at least.
    11) Bull Angus - S/T: poor man's Captain Beyond.
    12) Sam Cooke Anthology: 3 discs in a paper thin sleeve, but it's got pretty much every song you'd ever want.

Roy Burns - Big, Bad, and Beautiful on FPM

  • Combination Justin's Garage Sale/late afternoon Flea Market Finds. Some clean stuff, some collection filler stuff, average price about $5. The weather was spring-like and the records were flowing again after weeks of mostly futile searching. I love the Bay right now.
