Which version of "Hard Times" you takin'?
VS
I knew the Baby Huey version way before I knew Curtis recorded it too (yeah, I know it's his song, foll). I gotta admit, I was surprised at how nice the Curtis version was when I finally heard it, even though it's a lot smoother and more laid back. But I gotta ride with the Baby Huey, mane.
Cold cold eyes, upon me they stare
people all around me, and they're all in fear
they don't seem to want me, but they won't admit
I must be some kind of creature up here havin' fits
From my body house, I'm afraid to come outside
although I'm filled with love, I'm afraid they'll hurt my pride
so I play the part I feel they want of me
and I pull the shades so I won't see them seein' me
Havin' hard times
in this crazy town
havin' hard times
there's no love to be found
Whichever one you pick, it's all just paying homage to the greatness of Curtis in the long run.

he sound so much more expressive...
He is my dude...
And I rocked the Baby Huey version.
Cant be beat.
complete funk and hip-hop classic. that rhythm and those horns are FIYAH
BTW that Curtis LP is my favorite album in dudes catalogue
I'm all about that horn just after "...fits"
I'll second that shit.
Ditto.
Huey gets it on the funky in your face beat with the less than memorable vocal performance.
listening = curtis
To me that's the problem. I heard Huey's version first, so next to that, Chandler sounds rushed.
