I can't believe I actually fell for this one. There's a new scam email telling you that your bid has been cancelled on a specific auction and offers a link to the reason why. Because of my cookie settings I'm used to having to log into ebay almost everytime I access my account, so I logged in without thinking twice. Right after doing so, I noticed the URL. It was definitely not ebay. I changed my password right away, so I imagine I'm safe. Let my stupidity be a warning to you. Do not log in from an email. Evar.

i almost fell for some shit because they masked the URL... pretty sneaky... they put a script in the page to make a div tag hover over the address bar which covered up the real (yet fake) address and replaced it with "http://www.paypal..."
I am always leary of emails asking for passwords because.. well I'm paranoid. But, I just right-clicked on the page and the true address was revealed. AH HA! ain't foolin me. Bastards!

Yup, fuck a disco 12" this is the new style.
Sounds like you are safe. That's good news. Thanks for the warning.

damn, that sounds pretty elaborate - didn't even know that was possible!... you have that link still? I want to check it out.
yeah, this seems to be getting pretty widespread as far as scams go just over the last year. i fell for one about 8 months ago that went to a page with an ebay address, and looked EXACTLY like ebay. so i put in my id and password, then they asked for all kinds of shit like credit card, pin number, etc etc. i didn't put any of that in, then went back to the login page and just put in something random and it still went to the same page. just had to change my password. it was pretty impressive though.
