on a related note does anyone have a copy of orange juice - "you can't hide your love forever" that they're willing to part with? need the wax to play "out"
I think all of the 80's SY records are solid to be honest. That first EP - is one of favourite records of all time. I don't think I will ever forget hearing Burning Spear for the first time. I woke up my brother and made him get out of bed to come and listen to it. I did it out of love.
I hope they do re-issue it - more people should hear it.

yeah they're all good
"kill yr. idols" will demolish the right dancefloor
nah dude, it's porn. newnudecity.com. although those books were arguable at best.
What a decidedly non-transgressive career choice.
Lung Leg was supposedly a stripper in Queens after he movie "career" ended and there are all kinds of rumors that she thought she was haunted by a weird German spirit or something like that.

from wikipedia: "[Nick Zedd] claims that she then became a stripper in Queens, New York and became insane, obsessed with an imaginary German villain named "Ninny" who was trying to spread Communism and destroy Christmas."
yeah man, i actually had occasion to "chill" with lung leg once... i was about 12. and she fucked me up forever. like to the point that i will still have dreams about her. she would not stop talking about some piece of roadkill she picked up in california and wanted to make into a hat. i was in a room full of psychos and everyone was like 'ok you're fucking gone.' i was told kern used to dose her just for the fuck of it.

80s rock.
how the fuck did you get to hang out with lung leg when you were 12?
David Kilgour's solo efforts are firmly in the melodic pop vein and are appealing in their own sort of way... If we're talking NZ's Flying Nun label tho', I'd nominate Martin Phillipps and the various incarnations of the Chills for consideration...

fuck yeah. also the verlaines and john paul sarte experience are on point
my friend played me this flying nun comp/sampler a while back and i've still been trying to track it down.
Huge co-sign on the Bush Tetra's and the first Sonic Youth EP. I wanted to start a No-Wave/Post-Punk topic, but this ha salready covered it. Now, my favorite... The Dance!
In Lust was their first album. The singer, Euginie Diserono (sp?) is hot as hell and sounds hot too. However, their second album "Soul Force" was the banger. Alas, I can find no pictures of the album, but I did record a radio station copy (has some skips) which you can download Here: The Dance - Soul Force (tracks 2, 3, 6, and 7 being my favorite).

HUGE cosign! One of my fave bands from back in tha day.
yes!
this is finally going to be re-issued I hear. My copy is the SST re-issue from 87 (I think it's 87).
Short list of some of my favorite 80's rock records:
the OG neutral pressing has been impossible to find forever (well, at least the last 15 years)
Great record. Brutal stuff. 'Life Of Crime' is great, too.
It comes up on Ebay quite a bit...usually goes for about $50-80
and of course
and i know i am going to sound like a little dude but i just heard this for the first time this week
and i think it's great
This is my personal favorite:
Amazing album. Tom Violence and Expressway to Yr Skull are
Suicide Girls are soft in comparison!
yeah. this was a pre-ebay holygrail for me. Also, I'm not in NYC which could compound the problem.
I hope they do re-issue it - more people should hear it.

In the vein of that fetish "New York Girls" book or straight up soft core porn?
What a decidedly non-transgressive career choice.

80s rock.
I think that's the epitaph for this thread...

All this talk of Sonic Youth & no mention of "Sister" (or did I miss it?).
Probably my favorite of theirs.

it was at an art opening / performance i was doing with borbetomagus and loren m.c. at white columns.
but yeah. 80s rock.
This shit just cracked me up. Downtown gossip, folks!
