But the real question is: can the West coast take the East coast?

Have that one as well - it's good too. That Phil Flowers though - wow - it's all over the place...so good.

Found that Sons of Truth lp at the last record show for 20 bucks. What a dope record, I like every song on there.

  • East St.Louis Gospelettes - Shout For Joy

"He'll take care of you" or whatever that track is called is simply fantastic. Suuuuuper slow-burning tune.

  • Gospel records have gotta be one of the final frontiers of digging. Seems like there's a million of them, many micro-pressed, but the ratio of dull jesus shit to bangers is dumb high.

Folks looking only for funky in gospel are missing the point entirely, much like those ISO funky Brazilian...

The World Wonders on Savoy have been making me happy lately. Not straight gospel, but at least 65%.

True... Sons of Truth is a cool record, but aside from the subject matter, everything about it is pretty much in line with secular music of the time.

I like it for the same reasons. BTW: I'm talking about the World Wonders' "Don't Give Up." I'm aware of another LP of theirs called "The Cost of Living Is Very High," but I haven't heard it. How is this one?

dog! thats the raer one with the cover of Gap Band's "Outstanding" on it. Shit is HARD AS FUCK!

Kevin from the program told me he played mandolin on that album

Shit, I'm the one who told both Dre & Tip about the program. Dudes were sampling Tommy Tutone til I let them know what was rilly goin on. I'd talk more about it but I got Lamont Dozier & Tevn Campbell on my other line and they hate it when I leave them on hold for too long

    peace... guz
