There didn't seem to be so many hiphop / rap 7's from the genesis era of the genre, interested to knowwhat folks know or have pressed on 7" from back in the day, exclusively in that format as well as those that enjoyed a 12" pressing as well, anyone shed some light on the period from 79 to 81/82? Thinking Peter Brown affiliated etc... I know Sugarhill put some out there and there's ???Rappin??? With Mr. Magic???, what else?

  • Caution Crew - Rhythm Rock 45

found this for 50p recently. It's got a 15 year old Rodney O rapping over a tough beat, on Galleon Records, '83. Pretty sure the 12" is in Freddies book.

This might be a little too late but oh well it's a nice 7" anyway. Has Warm It Up Kane on the flip with full picture cover.

    yes.

  • From what I remember, most (or at least a lot) of the early rap singles were on 45 as well as 12". The seven inch format was still fairly popular in the late 70's / early 80's. I know I used to buy a lot of stuff on 45, anyway.
