This December marks our 15 year anniversary and we want to thank EVERYONE[/b] who has ever purchased a Ubiquity release. It is because of you that we are able to exist!
As some of you may know, Ubiquity won the Gilles Peterson BBC Radio 1 Label of the Year Award for 2004. This was one of the few awards that really meant something to us (we could care less about a Grammy or some other lame industry awards ceremony) because it comes from the fans of the music we're into, the DJ's, the artists, and you - the record buying public.
We have just been nominated again for 2005, and despite the fact that last year was good, we ALL feel the past 12 months were even better!!
By the end of 2005 we will have released music from Platinum Pied Pipers, Ohmega Watts, Breakestra, Shawn Lee, Owusu & Hannibal, Quantic Soul Orchestra, John Arnold, Radio City, Jeremy Ellis, Nostalgia 77, The Propositions, and Greyboy w/ Rodney Mathews of the Mighty Ryeders, plus compilations like Rewind! 4, Gilles Peterson Digs America, Searching For Soul & HVW8: Music Is My Art.[/b]
We ask that you please take the time to vote for our artists[/b] and Ubiquity Records as Label of the Year.[/b] You can do so by visiting:
In reviewing the list of nominees there are certainly a lot of great labels releasing amazing music. We truly believe we just had our best year of music ever, and we ask that you vote Ubiquity for Label of the Year if you feel the same. Please tell your friends and family to vote, too!

Thanks for the info. Gilles Peterson is a legend in our time. Respek.
Not really a legend in our time, read this interview with Keb.
I've been hearing that story about Gilles for years - that he got the money from his dad to buy up Paul Murphy's collection when Paul was seriously strung out and desperate for cash, and that's how he became a major player. Never read anyone mention it in print, though. I used to see Bob Jones out quite a lot, although not for a long time now, and got to know him a little. I never heard him allude to any of the stuff Keb Darge refers to, but one or two people who knew him better than I did weren't too polite about Gilles.
I read the original German interview! I really thought it was funny. Some very strange comments, plus geek talk non-stop. Florain was cool though... he was trying to provoke Keb, I guess
I have a tape of an interview w/ keb where he talks disparingly of gp, this was back in 98 or so. Apparently they have made up, but alas who knows what to believe. Keb is one interesting dude though, that's for sure....

That interview is completely unintelligible.
This is the best thing I got from it is now my location.
There must be some kind of a machine that they use on the English language in Japan to twist it like that.

"I do not have umbedingt this "rare" Song to play, while Keb verse-eat daruf are to play the one single which only he possesses."
"I want that you and your collecting tank friends with open eyes do not rauskommen to stand there and from being astonished no more"

For this reason I play each week the same set now, whereby I pack up each week a new plate. Thus the people become acquainted with the plates.
I talk here about correct shit. And it is a large difference whether you say that this plate does not please you, or whether you say that it is bad.
is that you aaron? props on all those fany statues!
