get with the program: 'a love supreme' needs a breakbeat added to make it relevant to the current generation...

  • have you actually listened to it, or are you just saying this on the "strength"?

but judging it by the cover, i'd have to agree. although Ravi Coltrane has been purveying the truth in recent years.

  • current generation

    fuck them

  • why so they keep on releasing these things...?

you would think that after this:

    and this:

they would have called it a day...

(i wonder how long before they do a strata east remixed, or maybe mps reimagined...)

    Co sign

    This was good

The name's on that impulse are OK however its never good when they force the remix aspects.

Also madlib's rework of the galt mcdermot catalogue is good. (he's usually tributing Sun-Ra,McDermott,Axelrod and Roy Ayres throughout his work)

    Touche.

But you might consider reserving some of those sentiments for when, you know, you're actually old.

Then again, a nice cardigan knows no age boundary.

the best comparison i can make is colorizing old films, or lucas adding that dumb shit to star wars...

music is fucking art, its like people adding neon shit to classical paintings in the 80s so that it would attract the "current generation" or throwing shit on them in the 90s

now you got a dildo with a turntable and sampler fucking with this shit

i know a lot of dudes are going to like this shit but iam just saying i think its lame

this does worry me, when iam forty i will hate everything

    pretty much

  • I just got this promo in the mail but I haven't listened to it yet. It's hard to imagine I would look at this and then look at those orange spines on my shelves and choose to listen to the remix CD.

  • strata east remixed

man this kind of shit was old news in 1992.

if they wanna get with the children they need to get on some MASHUPS

we gotta get some Hollaback Girl over The Creator Has a Masterplan

or maybe Linkin Park rhymes over some archie shepp.

that's what the kids want yo!

  • I remember this one not being half bad..

What remix project made this phenomenon snowball?
Was it those Shirley Bassey singles or what?

I think there was a "Def Jazz" one, but I don't know when that was released and I haven't heard it.

Actually, I think we have "US3" to blame for the whole fucking thing. Or is it Digable Planets? I always get the two confused...

  • I played the Dizzy Gillespie "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" rmx (disclaimer: it was a free promo 12" from Giant Step) at my lounge gig the other week and some 40-something woman came up and asked what it was, saying it was "amazing!" Not my thing, but just goes to show: different strokes.
