Radiohead- The Bends (when heard at the right time, this album is incredible! i didn't know radiohead could be uplifting!)D.I.T.C.- self-titled (definitely a notch above the rest in terms of beats and rhymes)Dizzy Gillespie Quintet- An electrifying evening with... (My first Gillespie record. he isn't a name that's brought up much on this board, but this live recording is pretty solid, and proves why he was one of the best.)

I'm addicted to the shit. It's by a group out of Michigan, but dudes live in L.A. now.

If not that, it's ThesOne's wedding present - his Mithai mix.

I just got promo copies of the debut CD's in the new "Prestige Profiles" series -although it's mostly jazz and I'm only marginally a jazz fan on a good day, I'm feeling the titles I've heard so far - my faves are John Coltrane, Eric Dolphy, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis and Lightnin' Hopkins (the token bluesman, so he's more up my usual alley).

    Also:

    - Jimmy Holiday - "Turning Point" (from his mid-sixties Minit LP of the same name)

    - Gene Chandler - "You Can't Hurt Me No More" 45

    - Rondels - "If You Really Want Me To, I'll Go" 45

    - Mando Diao CD (alt-rock band in 2005 who wish they were a punk/new wave band in 1979)

    - Roy Buchanan LP on Krazy Kat (comp of early 60's singles he did, on his own and with others - it's not on this album, but did you know that that was Roy playing the Curtis Mayfield-ish guitar on the Winstons'"Color Him Father"?)

Who is the guy who did that cover artwork? I've noticed his stuff on several late 70s disco thangs, Carlis Munroe and others I can't remember now. Very distinct borderline 80s glossy style.

Anyways, I was just listening to

I believe its the other way around - I think the Shake What You Brought comp just came out, while Soul Jazz has been putting out shitty covers like that for years. Why a class label like Sundazed has to bite SJ's style, I'll never know. That's like Haille Berry getting plastic surgery to look like Sandra Bernhard.
