How big can that jpeg get?

  • There's a place in Michigan that has 80 billion copies of this, with and without the picture cover.
    Homeless-era Andre Williams related.

  • a disco 12" from Terry Jacks and the Poppy Family...and it's good! it's kicks off with a nice break then becomes this crazy moog instrumental...very simliar to Eddie Drennon "Let's do the latin hustle". peep this sample: http://download.yousendit.com/7C59DE2511C7ACB2

Most of the really obscure stuff I find sucks so I end up selling to french guys via ebay.

Here's a couple that are pretty rare and don't suck.

A friend tipped me off to this next one and I'm not quite ready to blow up the spot yet, but if you know it, you know it.

The top record is Sizzle - Love Is All Around, the bottom record is

  • there's a great boogie tune by Sizzle on Sutra called "Keep On Trying"...could be the same group. is that tune more early 80s disco/boogie or late-70s disco?

I think it's from 78 (i don't have it in front of me), but it has tendencies towards the the early boogie sound (think of fantastic aleems - get down friday night). Could definitely be the same group I would guess.

Can you post of clip of the Sutra record? I can send you an mp3 of Love Is All Around this evening.

that sugarbear 45 is nice though

yeah, i can do that...give me a minute to find the record!

but a weird thing about that track...this is the same track here:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/The-Chill-Factor-Kee...1QQcmdZViewItem

maybe it's just a disco rap version of it...i've always wondered how they came about. my dj partner has that chill factor version...i have the sizzle...they are basically identical.

  • so upon further listening, the Sizzle is a disco rap, and that chill factor i posted about is indeed the same track...does anybody have that version? it's on this label Olympia...here's audio for the sizzle:

are there any of the same producers or names on this Sutra Sizzle as on that other Sizzle?

  • i don't need it! i gots the Sizzle yo!

i can never buy anything by Chill Factor anyway...aren't they responsible for that horrible 12" on Philly World?

more obscure disco...a rare Italian 12" of a cover version of Hokis Pokis classic "Nowhere"

I have a copy of the Chill Factor on Olympia to trade if anyone wants. The b-side song "the party" is the better track IMO. Is that song on the Sutra 12"?

no, the Sutra has a dub on the flip which is just the break and some efx...very nice for the dj bag.

Man, listening to it again, I gave a bad comparison to the Aleems track. It's really just straight ahead funky, soulful late seventies disco. Here's a few clips from different parts of the track. All in all, it's an 11 minute monster. Production is handled by Arthur Gibbons and Andre Baker. I have a feeling this is right up your alley CPR...
Sizzle - Love Is All Around

  • nice clip! sounds like a lost classic...very nice synths, great lyrics, really good tune, probably worth some loot! it's featured on soulcollector and it looks like it's been edited and booted recently. however, a copy just went for only $10...might be a bit too obscure at this point but hold onto it....it's probably going to be sought after as time goes by.

Yeah, I've seen the pic on soulmusiccollector, and you're talking about the MDD comp, right?

Where did you see it sell for $10? I would pick up another copy in a heartbeat, but have only seen remixes sold.

edit: nevermind, I googled it and saw the auction you are talking about. I am pretty sure that is a re-edit/remix of the track.
