Part of this was filmed in my apartment (before I lived in it). I'll cosign on this film and will also vouch for the director and the soundtrack composers. All super talented and dedicated folks with all the right visions and influences.

4YearGraduate said:Totally agree with you Doc and to add - 1) vinyl is short for polyvinyl chloride or PVC. This is a petroleum based product. Now ask yourself if vinyl prices have kept pace with gas prices since the early 90's? The short ans…

My method is first to play the 45 w/o center adapter. this allows you to sort of tweak the positioning until you get it to align straight. Watch the edges of the play-grooves to make sure they're not wobbling in any direction still. Then, stop th…

I still think "Nuevo Barretto" is pretty sick. And have witnessed that boogaloo/soul stuff pack dance floors enough to deem it worthy in some sense. Not to mentin it has that whole crate digger historical aura behind it. I mean, no duh you could…

Aside from the obvious WTF, where exactly are these multi-part 60second ad spots running? Web-only shit? Cuz then does it even count?

Finally saw Alphaville. This is one of my favorite parts:

I never thought I had claustrophobia until I watched that. Also, there are lots of dr. who sized plot-holes... like, did he built the train skeleton BEFORE he knew he would be getting tons of interior parts from scrap? What was he planning to fill…

This thread is like some weird, textual incarnation of the most impotent and boring train wreck of all time.

The organ/synth riff in G Thang is arguably the most iconic sip of music from the whole decade. Also, anyone have access to the Billboard archive? I'd like to see what the R&B charts looked like one year before Nb"G"t, and also o…

HarveyCanal said:This isn't even a discusssion. Well hmm, On the one hand it is ,because as of press time NbGt is only ahead by two votes. Hardly a clear favorite. On the other hand, it is not, because like only 5% of the people who clicke…

The one problem I have with Let Me Ride is that its pretty fake as far as lyrical subject matter goes. Really heavy on the gangsta violence shit which is never very believable coming from Dre. The material in G thing is much more down to earth and…

Anyone gonna speak up for Fuck wit Dre Day?
-
This is a tough one personally, because Dre Day was what originally caught my ear way back then, so its special. G Thang is kind of like the epochal cut of the era of which everything else would flow; totally massive. But in current day listening…

Do you have the UK or JA press? I have a copy of the JA issue, and yeah, I'd definitely agree on the murky sound quality :P The 45 is for sure coolest to own, but the LP version is probably the best version of them all IMO.

The 45 is from a lot later isn't it? Like the 80s? Its not uncommon for Mr. Dodd to have tweaked the mix 20 years on. I can think of a few other Studio1 rocksteady tunes that have multiple arrangements. I've personally never seen a 45 of this from…
