I'm shocked no one has mentioned the Italian-made Vietnam classic "Cobra Mission": It's a really bizarre 1985 film where in one scene disgruntled vets are attending one of their daughter's weddings and in the next scene, after having decided to …

Jeez, some of you are in a bad crowd situation. It's probably because of the kind of records I deal in, but I have lots of respect for almost all of my former ebay customers. I do have some negative experiences, mostly with hasty New York DJs trying…

That's like the non-native speaker's experience on soulstrut!

All those Kenyon Hopkins/Creed Taylor records are Rite of Spring has been played in this house more than once.

I like it. The horns have a cool sound. I agree with Grope: maybe some percussion would make it less clean. Maybe some congas. Also, the bass could get some more volume (although it's hard to judge on the toy speakers on this computer).

What happened to aging gracefully. I've met Xaviera "the happy hooker" Hollander: And worked with Sylvia "Emmanuelle" Kristel: (I would still like to meet Laura Gemser)

I saw Angelina Jolie in Peshawar, near the Afghan border. I was like Turns out that she's an ambassador for UNHCR. Another time I was working as a doorman at a local venue. Lou Reed was in the house. I was paged because Lou Reed wanted a gla…

I think ones where the frame is only as big as the record look not so hot. They remind of stores where they sell signed records and Elvis stuff. Plus they make me sad. Like framed butterflies or beetles: they are dead and they will never fly agai…

The New Cool Collective Big Band did covers of RD Burman instrumentals from 1966-1982 with low-fi equipment. After that The Harem Caravan Revue did a (way to) short show:

jan svankmajer (my avatar) Ugh, just saw his newest film Lunacy. It's terrible. Only the animated parts are great although they are reworkings of the short he did for MTV. Check out stuff by Trnka. His film The Hand is a must see.

Holy crap, anyone seen Memories by Otomo? That last episode Canon Fodder... One of the best things I've ever seen. Oh yeah, I dug the animatrix as well.

Raoul Servais' work is in some ways comparible to La Planete Sauvage. He did amazing shorts and at least one feature called Taxandria. Visualy it's great but even more boring than La Planete Sauvage His best known short is called Harpya. …

Surfed the web for infopinions on the "cartoon wars of 2006" and I was rocked between being a straight up neo-con to conspiracy thinker to multiculturalist. Now I'm back to being lost in the guagmire which is the reality of human relationships and …

He lived in Holland for the last 20+ years and passed on November 16, 2003 in a small (farm)town called Ruurlo. The article below notes that he was active "coaching soulgroups and making chairs and carpets" How interesting, I wonder what the chairs…

I have nighmares and wet dreams about this Dutch compilation series. The people I know who collect them give or throw away the records.

Paid $1 for this: I figured I could lay the records in warm water for an hour and wipe all that stuff off and maybe it will again be playable. Meanwhile, this record is (of course) in quarantaine. It's not completely odor free I must add.

I only buy sealed records or with at least 75% of the wrap still in place. Anything below 75% I'll stay away from. AS SEEN IN PARTIAL THE PICTURE DEPICT SOME OF THE FACE WHICH IS MISSING ABOUT 35% TO 25% OF IT'S WRAP, THE BACK IS BASICALLY ALL…

Another favorite musical moment is the strip club scene in Buffalo '66 with the strippers dancing to Yes' Heart of the Sunrise. Strange choise, brilliant.

The party scene in Ms 45 (Angel of vengeance) with that totally demented hippy funk tune accompanying the massacre. We used to cover that with the band I was in. There's a very trippy club scene in Scream and Scream again (with Amon Corner?).
