The percentage of Clinton voters who say they'd choose McCain over Obama in a general election is approaching 40% in Indiana. Put it another way: in North Carolina, less than HALF of folks who voted today for Hillary Clinton are ready to say today…

Listening to Clube de Esquina and not feeling anything is a character flaw. I ride for Milagro dos Peixes as well.

'I Am Legend' will come out in a cheap trade paperback version and people will have the opportunity to get at the source material. This will happen. So why are you mad? Movies like this always increase interest in the book they are adapted from. …

This thread has gotten sorta weird. I've fast-forwarded through a lot of this thread. Some good posts, some shitty ones.

Do local black exp grandmas say..."Oh yeah that that Miles shit, he was doin that funk shit?" - I doubt it. your doubt is well founded - speaking as someone who looks at alot 'local black exp grandma' type records - you never see OTC - unlike say,…

Get Up With It I love this album. "He Loved Him Madly" is one of my all time favorite 30 minute songs. I can't believe they got 30 minutes of music to fit on one side! I wonder how much music you can fit on one side, btw? I always thought you c…

A small warning, the box set includes on its 6 discs all of Get Up With It and pretty much all of Big Fun. If you already have those it might be a little disappointing.

I got it. It's amazing.

Read "Suttree". Absolutely incredible book.

I was wondering what the point of the "regeneration through violence" quote on the book was, but it made sense as the judge told more of his stories. It's a reference to the book Regeneration Through Violence by Richard Slotkin. It's this classic …

It's been discussed here before. I've read it twice now and both times my head was swimming from the incredible writing (the language he uses--the blend between biblical, western, and old American that sounds so damn heavy and is dense will allusion…

Congrats to the Sox. I didn't watch at all and it seems like I didn't miss much. It's a bummer how boring these World Series games have been. NL is practically AAA these days. ALCS was much more exciting and I have to admit I counted you guys out wh…
