It only seems to really matter value-wise on the crustier early folk/blues titles and stuff like the Mushroom Ceremony. No one seems to ever pay a premium for different pressings of the more esoteric stuff. I tend to just keep what's cleanest.

It gets complicated because there wasn't really any discernible logic to why certain colors of labels or covers were used. There are white labels from the 50's and there are white labels from the 80's, and so on. You kind of have to take it on a cas…

This would be a War On Drugs level waste of money and effort.

There was a (supposedly crap sounding) boot of Relatively Clean Rivers a few years back but even it's now like 75-100 bucks.

There were definitely the kind of people buying in Austin that I think we're talking about and they were super psyched to buy $10 Neil Young. There were cute 20 something year old girls paying $40 for Hawkwind records & shit. I was floored. Ther…

This was so entertaining I totally forgot to snipe the record I was watching.

The thought of digger dudes keeping anyone in business is hilarious. You can basically put the nicest copy of something they have been straight gripsweating for 2 years in their hands at the friendliest price imaginable and 2 outta 3 times they are …

I think a lot of them were suffering anyhow, even pre-Amoeba/eBay. I guess it's unfortunate that what makes a shop appealing to DIGGER TYPES is probably exactly what put a lot of these places out of business. But in the past that was always a record…

It's really not that many more than there used to be down there. It was a pretty dismal 10 year stretch from about 2000 on when it seemed like 2 outa 3 shops closed. At least there's some places to look now, even if most of them are pretty savvy.

There's some generic EZ Listening LP with the same cover as Ricardo Marrero on TSG that still gets me every time.

Well, I guess looking at it that way...

If Los Angeles being accessible is a big concern I think you'd definitely want to move closer. The nightmare of Southern California traffic cannot really be overstated. It can routinely take 2-3 hours to travel 50-60 miles. And as far as actually li…

I think it's a Vince Bell guitar effect.

I think you'd either have to love it in that area or it would drive you crazy. On paper it probably looks like a short jaunt over to the greater civilized LA area but in reality it's a pretty brutal trip. Riverside & San Bernardino are more acce…

I've been sorta half-heartedly trying to get a copy of this record for a while but it doesn't seem to turn up cheap. Allan Parsons Project related, right?

I think eBay is taking issue with the "not responsible" line. What I do is just add a line with something like "all orders over X dollars must ship registered or express at the buyers expense". Haven't had any trouble with that.

It won't do you any good anyway.

Salvation Army is a huge bureaucracy. Every donation is processed through a distro center and then shipped out. I think how pilfered certain things get just depends on location. It is definitely possible to pull even the most obvious shit from time …

This is obviously the Brewster's Millions of record deals.

Yeah, it's kind of amazing how much effort a lot of people put into basically useless information. There is so much info out there at this point. No one really wants to read a paragraph of your personal ruminations. Some easy things you can d…

Can we please get one of the mods to change lilmonstu/northendealer/etc's name to PEDO-FILER?
