yupp I have 3 broken buttons on my old 2000, they all work fine they are just loose. The machine barely sees the light though, I think you can get these plastic buttons for a few cent. golla at vst or somebody like that

mpc 2000(xl) I take it... either your button is broken or stuck and probably durrty. Open the fucker up, clean the little palstic switches and reseat them. should do the job, otherwise go on mpc-forums.com and check out the mpc2000xl section
