I have a "record nook" and don't like it at all. It just isn't ideal for listening.

I can't emphasise this enough. You do gotta have a ping pong table.

    Hey Raj,

You can do like one of my old recording engineers. His studio was a separate structure in his backyard, and within, he kept the killer porn stash. It was crazy mixing down tracks with "Taboo" playing above me on a wall-mounted TV screen. In your man cave, you could keep the stash secure and enjoy it in privacy. ;-)

    Peace,

    Big Stacks from Kakalak

Could not find the OG thread this was posted in (Sorry OP)...

    But this:

...would really tie the room together.

    Edit: Also this...

  • if its your space entirely then i say open concept, not split into rooms. if it were me, i would want to be able to put on a record and then be able to jam to it with friends, have a smoke, a bite to eat, watch some tv or whatever and then in a haze amble over to my twilight zone pinball (or air hockey/foosball table) for a few rounds before passing out on a comfy leather couch.

FYI ???. I have two small rooms at my current spot.

One is a "jam" room containing a drum set, about 6 various guitar amps, bass amp??? tons of guitars and basses. The Rhodes is in my office.

My office contains record and book shelves. sitting area and TV to play my Madden and a listening station???.

Additional floor support, pool table. Plus spacious cabinets built into the walls so you can switch out speakers as the years go by.

    Raj,

You gonna start recording/making music again? or is this just strictly hanging out space?

This is so good man, congrats. Did you ever sell that phenomenal stone house you had on the market btw?
    1. A great dude chair is key.

    2. I like the record nook a lot idea but as another poster said don't make it annoying for yourself to get a record, walk in the other room and put it on. If that's not a factor for you, do it.
    3. Ping pong, pinball.
    4. I suggest having a bathroom over there, then you can take the most peaceful private deuce in your own time. I have my own bathroom, it is so good.

Raj, the possibilities are endless with that space. I'm a bit jealous. Out here in the Bay Area the prices for square footage are extremely high, making the possibility of a man cave like this next to impossible unless you have a ton of money. Can't wait to see photos of the finished product.
