    I doubt he'll remain effective for the duration of this contract, and he already has a habit of blowing big games.

    yeah...that and we had madsen, young, but homegrown and on the come up. let him do his thing instead of bringing in another hired gun. we need that money for bats anyway. bullpen held up for most of the year and maddogs been paying dues. shoulda given them a shot

    Red Sox aren't going to miss out on anything. They'll probably holler at at Heath Bell, who is a beast. Scott Boras likely screwed his client Madson with the 4 year $44 million nonsense. In that context the Papelbon contract isn't so horrible. Phils will be cutting themselves down at the knees if they resign Rollins for crazy money plus the Paps contract. They need bats, Hunter Pence was a great start.
