This example provides a strong counter-argument to "Cam'ron's Law" on snitching, which specifically states that community members must never tattle to the police - even if there's a serial killer living next door.

But if the reward outweighs the risk, then by all means snitch.
When the police frame tips as the only way to solve crimes, I have an issue. Witnesses may be part of the investigation, but taking the tone that investigators can't do anything unless people step forward...that is not my idea of thorough or dedicated police work. As well, this expectation and tsk-tsk-tsk of community members not stepping forward to speak on the neighbours, etc....how many officers step forward to report bad cops?
There is a huge risk for cops to "snitch"...what protection is given to those who have to live next door to the families, squads, etc. of the people they turn in? This is not just an interesting talking point on hypocrisy, it has a very real and negative impact.
There is a reason people have stepped forward now more than before; Toronto Police have been putting in serious community work and relationship-building. I hope they keep building, and for more reasons than getting this fuck arrested.
The Families
Yeah, I agree that it's a threat; thus "Cam'ron's LAW". But Cam specifically implied that catching a serial killer isn't a strong enough reward (in response to a ridiculous question that missed the point).
And I think this case highlights how community members actually do value catching serial killers.
I was just making light of Cam's comment. But these are great points. Thanks!
Good point. That actually helps me understand Cam's answer (as an individual) more.
Yep, nothing could go wrong with this...
That shit was not funny
White folks lynched white folks too.
Because they were white?
With mutilations and picnics and packed lunches and everything?
I dont think they pickled the little penis' afterwards.
Lynching = ONLY Black folks? Isnt that just as illusionary and racialist?
^^ THIS ^^
Does that mean talk to them about their problems/bad childhood etc?
