  • Probably "Duel of the Iron Mic".

  • one of the best songs and videos ever. Why do I have a feeling almost every track is going to be named. Still don't know what was used besides the drums. There's tons of still unknown samples on the album.

  • I love that the Fresh soundtrack had Genius' "I Gotcha Back" and Raekwon "Heaven & Hell" on it. Those are my faves on the individual albums too.

i still find myself randomly quoting lyrics from "labels" but shadowboxin was always my main jam. Good wu-type verse from Meth.

But on the cool, rounding to the nearest 3rd, does that even make mathematical sense? i mean, i know i don't know my wu-math very well anymore, but sounds odd to me.

    agreed. 4th chamber - w/o a doubt.

The banks of G, all CREAM downs a vet
Money feed good, opposites off the set
It ain't hard to see, my seeds need God-degree
I got mouths to feed, unnecessary beef is more cows to breed
I'm on some tax free shit by any means
Whether bound to hit scheme or some counterfeit CREAM
I learned much from such with cons who run scams
Veterans got the game spiced like ham
And from that, sons are born and guns are drawn
Clips are fully loaded, and then blood floods the lawn
Disciplinary action was a fraction of strength
that made me truncate the length one tenth
Woofers stomp, tweeters hiss like air pumps
RZA shaved the track, niggaz caught razor bumps
Scarred tryin to figure who invented
    this unprecented, opium-scented, dark-tinted
Now watch me blow him out his shoes without clues
Cuz I won't hesitate to detonate, I'm short fuse

I went off this record entirely after seeing two of the worst live performances ever by Gza. A stay at home mc to be sure.
Second show i saw was a press thing freebee and it was almost as bad as the first time I saw him. Boy does he suck.

The 4th Chamber into Shadowboxin' is the core of the album.

But i ride hard for this shit especially when dude is singing New Edition's "Lost In Love" in the background.

The song "Liquid Swords" still gets my blood pumping. That beat was so insane! "I Got'cha Back" was NUTS as well.

If I am going through almost every track on a release trying to figure what is my top song, I put it in the solid-very-close-to-flawless category.

I thought we agreed there's no such thing as a flawless record...save for Supreme Clientele of course

    b/w

    Killah Hills

Im sorry but as good as the beat is, GOLD is not as good as Shadowboxin and 4th Chamber.

And no one yet has repped GOLD as their favorite track. I wonder why?

  • I have gone through a lot of phases in my appreciation for this album but the last few years my favorite track has got to be Living In The World Today. I can't explain it; it's just my favorite.

Such a crazy sample flip. One of the best sample usages ever imo.
