New music sounding the same?

My friend seems to think so. Hiphop, punk, ect.

They says it sounds more similar in comparison to older groups. For example, the Little Dippers compared to the Supremes, or Peter Paul and Mary compared to Arthur Prysock.

Do you think newer music kinda sounds the same?

    not at all.

    but its all subjective anyway. if you like it, then you like it - no matter if it sounds like something else.

    I started this post because where I Dj, weird is good.

    When not all of my music is weird then I try to make the transitions weird. Like "101" strings to downtempo Donald Byrd remixed breaks.

    At the end of the day I notice that I play a lot of older music on labels that are simple.
