I was thinking that if my collection was completely burned I would try and rebuild by collecting the full catalogue of a restricted amount of artists per genre. All that they have released or participated in.
This is the list I came up with
Soundtracks:
Umiliani, Morricone, Francis Lai (aliases included)
Brazilian:
JorgeBen, MarcosValle, ArthurVerocai (runnerup Vinicius de Moraes)
Soul:
Curtis Mayfield,Willie Mitchell, Bar-Keys (Runner up Ray Charles)
Moder:
Lamont Dozier, Leon Sylvers, Rick James
Latin:
WillieColon, Fruko, Johnny Pacheco (Runners up Larry Harlow, Cachaito)
Jazz:
GaryMcFarland,Gil Evans, Mizell Bros. (Runner-up RVG but it's a bit of a cop-out)
African:
Fela, Youssou N'Dour, Salif Keita
Reggae:
LeePerry, BunnyWailer, Coxsone (Runner up YabbyYou)
HipHop:
Diamond D, Pete Rock, Dilla
(Runners up PsychoLes/Buckwild/LargePro or
Primo/ Kanye/Beatminerz or
Madlib:by the end of his career he will fill an expedit by himself)
I am having a hard time with Rock and I prefer artist/producers than strictly producers/engineers but would love to hear suggestions.
What is your take?

it's not a top 3 more than a multilevel thing
jorge ben has amazing and numerous albums...but also produced and wrote a bunch of classics
mayfield gets you an OST with gladys/pips, all of the curtom label etc
leon sylvers goes through multiple eras
that sort of thing
I'd also add Rogerio Duprat to the Brazilian list.
And maybe Quincy Jones and Lalo Schifrin to your OST list.
