I'm putting records together for a wedding I'll be DJing and the bride is a Salsa dance teacher. This is not my area of expertise. Does the Strut know any sure shot wedding dancefloor Salsa bangers to recommend?

  • Most salsa instructors teach a specific style that's closely related to the music; and someone that dances to Cuban Timba might not be that moved by vintage New York salsa dura - so ask her what her favorite songs are and find out what style she teaches.

That said, there are some songs that will move any salsa dancer. Here's a couple:

    Fair enough. :hijack:

    Anyone had this?

    So good!

  • It's an eyeball recipe so you just gotta make it and tweak to perfection.

It's a pretty standard Mexican Pico de gallo type recipe.
My Italian mother learned it from my aunt in Mazatlan, Mex. I've used it my whole life.

about 3 tomatoes chopped and de-seeded.
between 1/2 to 1 white onion chopped, rinsed.
2 to 3 serrano peppers (no jalepeno) de seeded and finely chopped.
a couple cloves of garlic, pressed
    cilantro (not too much)
    juice of a lime
    salt and pepper to taste

That's it. Let in marinate for a bit.

Like I said, tweak it because everyone in my family had their own spin based on their preference. Some like more onion, some less garlic , some, more cilantro. haha basic stuff here.

If I have any avocados, I reserve some of the ingredients for guacamole. The trick here is to go light, and grate the onion w/ a cheese grater. That way the onion juice really comes out in a nice way to flavor the guac.

Light olive oil, salt, and pepper drizzle prior to broiling.
    Peel the anaheim.
    Blend.
    1 or two avocados.
Tecates are for drinking, not for blending.
