There are always records you bought of which you thought they were holy grails until you found out about them on popsike, goin' for less than you expected.
My personal ones : The 2 Rupert Cobbett lp's, the 2 Spider Martin lp's, Doug Lucas - Niara, Deborah Brown - Double Trouble, Eddy Louiss - Orgue, Paz - Paz are Back, Vikings de Guadeloupe - Degagez Payez Impots, etc etc.

I'm still wrapping my head around the idea that any of those records are "grails".

Not the first time I've seen a shop selling this og funk 45, but when I first heard it (I think on a '93 Ubiquity comp called Evolution) I assumed it must be dog rare, and at first it was, but seems to be getting easier to pick up than ever.

I think the 45 of 'Bout Love' goes for more than the LP.

    b/w

Marvin's Groove is one of the great, cheap funk 45s. Sounds like it ought to be worth coin.

Those Luv N Haight comps were definitely an introduction to "rare groove" for me and before I started collecting vinyl I always assumed that everything on them was difficult to acquire. To be fair, there actually is a lot of rare stuff, but I was always surprised that when something they put on a compilation turned out to be easy to find. "Wow, Lunar Funk on Bell!"

Found this one in 2000 sealed for 20.00. When I finally got on the internet in 08 and started checking ebay it's usually a constant item up for bid.

$20/30 record, their other one is rarer though.

    When I picked up Ripple's S/T for ??3 in the mid 90's I thought I'd pulled heat.

Even that seems pretty optimistic at this point.

I have a copy of this autographed by all the members, does that transform it into a raer? Some sort of unsoughtafter, non-value increasing raerity?

that first Port Authority LP is more common than most of the records mentioned so far. i've found 5 copies for under a dollar in my life, at least.
