Deep in study mode so mostly instrumental stuff... Boards of Canada has made it back into heavy rotation. I have also been listening to a lot of Bear McCreary soundtracks (especially his amazing Battlestar Galactica work).
Booker Ervin - thanks to Horseleech for the headsup on dude.
Izzi Dunn "The Big Picture"
Swingle Singers "Someday My Prince Will Come"
Kings Singers "Rhythm of Life"... Whiter than Dave Casper but reminds me of the radio on Sunday afternoons in the 70s.
A number of Los Melodicos LPs have been in rotation lately, and I've picked out some real gems from their unwieldy catalog. Salsas, descargas, cumbias; they managed to make some seriously top-shelf stuff about one out of 50 songs they released.
I finally completed my Michi Sarmiento LP discography last week with Tremendo and so I listened to all of them tonight back to back. One of Colombia's best for sure. Now, let's see about his 45's.....
I have been trying to listen to certain albums over and over lately, for better understanding. On heavy airplay as of late:
Purple Haze, for when I need a pick-me-up.
Dungen's Ta Det Lugnt for whenever, wherever.
The score for The Thing, for when I want to get into the parka/snowstorm vibe that has gripped Chicago for the last several months.

I have played Kekere Jojolo three times in a row so far lol

Album: Playback
Track: You're the biggest thing
perfect example of easy to find, yet often overlooked modern soul.
I'm quite excited for this release. Bibio's music has treated me well over the years.

...music with a little bit of, like, a story.
I love the south, there is a lot of humidity there, but I can't complain.
Pretty great, and a fitting send-off, I think.
