Can't seem to get my pm's to work, so I had to make a thread to thank nzshadow for sending me a stack of kung fu flicks. You done went and sent me one of my top10 movies of all-time...(let's see, Over the Edge, Big Wednesday, Endless Summer, Miller's Crossing, Goodfellas, Drugstore Cowboy, Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket, Dazed and Confused, and Master Killer, yep)...back in the day I bought a copy from Sound Waves in Houston (where DJ Premier used to work) but it was such a bad bootleg that it didn't play right to the point that I had to just toss it in the trash. Remember clearly the first time I ever watched it back on a Sunday afternoon when I was a kid. On Sunday's during the summer, we'd typically watch Wild World of Sports boxing (Tommy "The Snake" Hearns was my favorite), then a kung fu flick, then Kung Fu the show, then Mid South wrestling (Junkyard Dog teritory). And then we'd go in the yard and act all that shit out. Anyway, can't wait to pop it in the deck along with the others. So very cool of you.

Back in the mid 90's I went to see a rare uncut print of Master Killer in all it's "Shaw" cinemascope glory on a big screen. Colin Geddes (Who IMO was North America's champion of martial arts cinema) was able to buy a print from an old shut down drive in from Texas. Rumour has it he scoped it from a slightly pissed off Tarantino, who wanted to buy the print.
The movie was shown in a slightly well known porn theater here in Toronto (Metro!). And just as I thought the night couldn't get any better who walks in for the showing? Tarantino on his first date with Mira Sorvino (They were in town for TIFF).
It was by far one of the best movie theater experiences of my life.
> Master Killer.
The Director's Cut of The Warriors w/ the Comic Book shit was terrible.
Your inclusion of Drugstore Cowboy made me write down the movies i didn't see from your list. I don't know many folks who include that one in their top 10.
Here's one from my list: Gummo.
I found them in a secret spot here in the Dam where i come up on all sorts of crazy heat, an OG Rob Roskopp face 1 with Indies and Hosoi rockets for 10 euros? thank you sir, flipped it for 700.
(That Le shleu schleu record came from the same place too).
i never played them so i hope the quality is superior to the copy you used to have.
Merry Christmas.
Alan.
He was The Snake before he became The Hitman.
I'm saving your address off of the package so that I can one day return the favor by sending you something you really like.
That Shleu Shleu record has been played at many parties since you sent it.
Thanks again and again...and Merry Christmas to you too.
Wow, just stumbled across this...
On 2nd December 2010 it was announced via Hearns' Twitter feed that he would be coming out of retirement for one final fight. At the ripe old age of 52, Hearns is set to fight Andre Ward for the WBA Super World super middleweight title on February 14th 2011.
I took your money for that screening. When we first opened the box office, Colin gave me a six pack of Growers (which I never had before and found to be quite delicious). I finished all of them by the time the movie started. What a weird trip that was!
It was a really good night. Sorvino wore enough make-up to choke a theatre company.
I had the same routine. Cheers!
this is what makes the soulstrut amazing.
finest of form.
I think we had this convo before... Cept in my memories you were tipsy and we made out to the sounds of the theater crowd yelling Wu Tang quotes...
holy shit.
x2
b/w harvey please post more recommendations i am learning stuff
Watched this one last night...
Thought I had already seen it as a kid, but apparently I hadn't. Must have been one of those movies that on the school bus I had pretended to have seen as the older kids talked about it in detail. (H.O.T.S.-related)
