My band, Dopamine flux, is going to do a set of 15 of the hardest uptempo BBOY breaks we can think of..
I'm selecting them right now just wondering if anybody had any good suggestions. I really don't care if it's old or new, or if the band exists now... Doesn't necessarily have to be rare. We just want funky, a little weird, or challenging.. So, please STRUT reccomendations, regardless if you think we can pull it off or not.
These aren't final yet, but so far this is where i'm at..:
J.J. Johnson - Across 110th street
The Boris Gardiner Happening - Melting pot
Niteliters - K jee & Drumology
Mongo Santamaria - What you don't know
Incredible bongo band - Bongo Rock
Soul Searchers - Blow your whistle
The Chefs - Mr. Machine
Carleen and the groovers - Can we rap
James Brown - You gotta have a mother for me
Kashmere stage band - Kashmere
Eddie Bo - Hook and sling
Lafayette Afro Rock Band - Hihache
Dexter Wansel - Theme from the planets (Sped up version)
Eric B. and Rakim - Juice - Know the ledge
Babe Ruth - The Mexican
Jimmy Castor bunch - It's just begun
Yellow Sunshine
George Benson - Water Brother

and over the years i have become a fan of Wu-Tangs "uzi" as a b-boy track, realizing later on that it is J.J. Johnson's "parader strut" that gets credit for the beat really....

The OG? It's all chopped samples IIRC, so are you talkin about the horns? Not sure where he got those. Drums are "Apache", "Well, Have a Nice Day" & "Jam On The Groove".
He scratches this:
Sup Mordecai,
Hm.. not sure if we're going to be able to properly record this set or not. If I can figure out a way to buy more tape reels, soon. Then it's definitely a possibility. I'll keep you all posted.
