MOJO Top 70 SOUL albums

Might have missed this thread cus its strange this hasnt been brought up.... If this has been raised already can someone link me to the OG thread (I did do a search but nuthing came up)....
juts copped the new MOJO issue...I was suporised by some of the albums mentioned... although Inner Visions as No1 is a decent choice.... alot of the usual suspects and a few leftfielders IMO....
On the Curtis Mayfield cheerleading tip...he only made it to number 20...that was a bit of a shock..you'd think he'd be in the top five.... and they had some disco joints in there (Donna Summers) which shouldnt be in the list IMO....or they shoulda called it the the funk/jazzfusion/psychedlic/disco soul albums list :-)

I"m not being aggro about asking this, I'm just curious what people think is so fucked up.
Right off the bat, it should be noted that they decided NOT to repeat any artist. I understand why they might have decided that but it does create some "eggs in one basket" situations that'd be up for considerable debate ("Innervisions" vs. "Songs in the Key of Love" for example).
but the litmus test of a list like this is if somone had never heard/listened/collected this type of music (or if you fall back to the day you first 'discovered' soul/funk/groove etc) would this list be a just and useful tool in expanding your knowledge/insight into this field. And despite a few personal selections I woud have or not made I think it does a decent job.
My only really issue is they did have a 'too broad' scope which allows for LPs that you would consider strickly 'SOUL' to be included.... but that is a hard one to contain cus we all know there was alot of artists that mixed genres/styles on albums...
Now lets get to the record bragging part of the equation....who amongst you has ALL 70 in the crates (extra points if you got doubles) hehehehe
I wont front I probably own around 40 of those listed---
that there's exactly 1 Parliament album on the list or that that album is Motor Booty Affair...

Yes it is, I meant any more albums, sorry. In my own list would be "Sharing" by Vitamin E, "It's Rough out There" by Modulations or "Still Bill" by Bill Withers.
I would also add "Peaceful" by Al Johnson (Marina) or "Hutson" by Leroy Hutson (Curtom). But depends on tastes at all. But I think that Curtis' best is "There's no place Like America today" without any question.

And "Hutson" too. Definetely i'm dyslexic.
They even do a top 5 'soul compliations' list....a bit WTF-ish but different....
But yeah Four Tops, Chi Lites, Stylisitcs should all defitinely be there.....

Choosing Aretha's Spirit In The Dark is one of those situations.
As is choosing Millie Jackson's Caught Up over It Hurts So Good.
