Anyone heard this yet? One turntable, a loop pedal and a stack of Brazilian and African records. Sounds like a pretty fresh concept at the very least.

i've heard the one track he leaked a couple weeks ago which is really cool. i'll have to check this out.

anyone know what's up with his other album? i remember hearing last year he had an industrial-ish album just about done.

illest part of the whole mix is the red alert/ jungle bros promo with lucien and juju.... so tuff.

also big fan of mixes where you can hear the record being pushed ... not all pro-tooled/ableltoned up.

I saw him perform this live a few months back and It was quite impressive, audibly. Really interesting concept that stretches past the DJ/scratch/beat digging outlook on things.

Word. By itself, it's a great mix. But on the technical side, it's an astounding performance

Cut chemist seemed to go in the right direction while someone else took an odd turn.

Litmus test is still amazing to me. Amazing collection of productions and excellently pieced together all by the same dude.

Nope. His latest sounds like an online amateur beatmaker-competition entry...

that didn't get past the first round.

Hasn???t his Joshness moved into sample licensing or something (or his partner specialises in this)??? I???m wondering if his reluctance to use samples from any of the million-odd records he has is due to some weird disinclination to pay sample clearance anymore.?? But it???s hurting his work. He should just go back to what he did best. Pillaging the best bits from super-obscure records to make moody beat landscapes for documentaries (I say this as a fan of his early work).?? Or just try his hand at making some boombap remixes. Or interesting DJ mixes. But not that shit.

JOSH: IF YOU'RE READING, THAT 'def surrounds us' SUCKS DONKEY SCHLONG. AND SWALLOWS WITH NO COMPLAINTS.

But back on topic, I've seen Cut Chemist's Sound of the Police being sold as a CD and as a 12". Is the 12" just the mix pressed on vinyl, or separated tracks or something?

That Shadow live mix that came out a while ago was godawful. This is great.

That Shadow track is diabolical. I can't imagine anyone but the most one-eyed slavering fanboys giving him a pass for something as rotten as this. Much as I like the greater body of his pre-Outsider material, I'm inclined to agree with Controller 7 here - it looks like Shadow took a wrong turn and kept going.

Somehow you find a way to post something negative in every thread, usually unrelated to the actual topic. At least you're consistent.

I cap on folks for fun. I don't own any shirts from Mervyns, but I actually like Chemist enough. He's a great dj. J-5 is kinda laughable though, despite their origins that hit so close to home for me. It's all in fun though, don't take the internet so seriously, bro.

No problem. Just saying, that striped shirt is the shit!

Nice mix. I really like his scratching.

this cut chemist mix is amazing! looove the single he did for it aswell.. fresh as hell. but that was a mp3-only release? i need that on 7"!

and i must say i liked that dj shadow track too, has a strange d.i.y. edge to it. i wish he would have let some real dubstep/dnb/electronic head do the bass and synth work tho, why isnt he collabin with flylo?

That track is indeed terrible, but I was sufficiently prepared, having heard this:

    http://www.djshadow.com/release/dj-shadow-los-angeles-10312009

I double dare anyone on the strut to sit through that mix. And I'm saying this as a fan of his earlier work too, believe me.

  • Really digging this mix, the bit with Fela/InI near the start is great, thinking that it's all done on one turntable boggles the mind.

I thought Shadow's mixes on the radio page were pretty decent.

sound of the police is the best live mix i have heard by ANY Dj with Cut's position/status---------I'm super grateful that he's done this because many others seem awfully "ELECTRONIC/DANCE/LASER/BLEEP/BLIP/125-140BPM" focused
