Jodimars is pretty darn good rockabilly, Johnny Jones is cool R&B instrumental.

    minting up on The Faction

The Raw Soul Comp is killer, Meters just for completeness, Don Wilkerson is clean 1st press, Soul Investigators is solid.

Mance Lipscomb is a comp sort of in memoriam I guess, Jimmy McGriff has a bunch of his good early tracks, original Albert Collins LPs. Amazingly, I had never seen pre-Alligator Albert Collins LPs in the field before today.

    A good day

  • i inherited this early 60's gibson acoustic. not only is purty (check out that pick guard) but it plays like a dream. love those 60's gibson necks and fretboards...

its a 2LP called Burning Ambitions- A History of Punk

From going through these and from a person that dont know much about punk or punk bands, I'd say that the front row middle one was the joint that grabbed me the most, very eerie hardcore fuzz garage punk, with those sorta newyork subway tunnel ESG-ish/ newwave basslines, dirt hard drums, some of it sounds like it was recorded live via a one mic.. the whole thing just totally shreds!!

but its got a hand flipping the bird on the cover. worth it for that.

actually not even worth it for that, i think i gave my copy to goodwill a few years ago.

I disagree.. the PYHITH drums are not that awful, just very gloomy sounding.. (not even sure gloomy is the right word in that context).. but anyway, ive heard shittier versions of the PYHITH, and if u guys are talking bout the track as a whole, then YES, cause PYHITH is about as corny as it gets! ;)

From my stack of flea finds from this past weekend, this was definitely the highlight:

A crispy copy of Bobby Callender "Le Mus??e de l'Impressionisme".

His third and last album, recorded in Massachusetts, but released only in Holland in small numbers in the early 70s. This record is a trip, I can best describe it as Callender praising his favorite impressionist painters in a mix of english and french over orchestral soul a la Jerry Butler or the likes. It's quite weird to hear Callender exclaiming "RENOIR, C'EST TOUT, RENOIR" in a very theatrical voice like he was wooing some woman. I didn't have any of his two other albums, so this is my first introduction to him. Seems like he was quite a character.

There's an interesting essay on the recording session here:

Also got a few trades from the Crillo swapmeet at Christinia Sunday afternoon:

Thanks to upskiboo (see, I managed to remove the WOC and crappy tape on the seams), Jspr and VGplusser Brainbomb for these.

Yeah, such a great album, ???Le Mus??e de l???Impressionisme.??? And how cool to find at a fleamarket. The Monet track is a favorite.

That was a good read too btw. I thought it had a cultish vibe, this record.

I only found it twice in Holland. Both times I payed 50 euro. Which is totally cool.

Anybody know how it compare to his RAINBOW Lp.
I remember being very underwhelmed by that album.
