Glad the east still got it's props.

Oh yeah, and Trae - Swang.

Glad that at least someone's trying though.

Anybody else own Rap-A-Lot's video comp DVD's? There's only 2, right? Do I need to buy more?

I'm with Noz. Those songs are the standouts from Big Mike's LP, but Pimp C kills "Havin' Thangs" both on the beat and the hook.

I'm not sure that "Get Throwed" was the actual long-awaited reunion between Pimp and Bun--as I recall, that album came out several months before Pimp's release. I had always assumed it was an old verse.

I personally prefer On the Run with Bun B to both of those...but from that album Playa Playa was far and away the biggest significant hit that even today really resonates with a crowd.

In my private mindgarden, 5th Ward Boyz' "Pussy, Weed & Alcohol" and "5th Of Ghetto" would've been on that list. I also agree with "Fuck Faces" being higher, "Playa Playa" instead of "Having Thangs" as well as "Swang."

Sorry to burst your bubble but now that I've finally seen an episode of Treme, I'm more like the John Goodman character than the Steve Zahn character.

Instead of getting booted from Tower Records, I'm throwing your microphone in the river.

Most working music critics blog in some capacity. I wouldn't expect you to know anything about that though.

    Because I'm old school...pre-blog.

Plus, I'm no longer a critic. I now write promo material behind the scenes for artists who pay me to do so.

I don't know why you are assuming this adversarial tone though.

Your article is cool. I'm glad you did it.

Ultimately, it's your perogative. You do good work even if I don't always agree with it 100%. I mean, I haven't even mentioned the lack of Big Mello yet. But I still like the article.
