    Never heard a Brazilian one. I enjoy hearing covers of Sissy Strut, but I can't think of any that come close to the Meters.

    I dunno but it's not the Trinidad Tripoli Steel Band.

    Nor that white blues band that played the Eno Festival Saturday afternoon in Durham NC last year. Though they were pretty good, considering the context.

    There's another one from Trinidad (non-steel) that is the sickest one I've heard so far. Ain't nothing tighter than Trini drummers.

    Actually my favorite version is brand new (oh well, 2 years old):
    Pablo - Cissy Strut (Red Hook Recordings)

    I used to own this 7", but I lost it playing out at a party in january. I miss it very much. Nice Studio 1/Trojan-inspired funky reggae version with melodica. The guy behind it is called Michael Hunter and he also operates under the alias Butch Cassidy Sound System. Lovers of the heavy dub vibe should definetely check him out.
