One of Koko's finest moments was "A Mighty Love" on Yambo. A tender soul-blues ballad that she totally gets into.
Of course, when I interviewed her once, she didn't remember it, but what can you do?
Also: her first Alligator album, I Got What It Takes, is surprisingly raw, not as slick as her later albums on the same label. I like this particular version of "I.G.W.I.T." better than the Chess original!
I didnt know shit about Koko till a hippie friend in college (Jennifer from Chicago) put me on. Ive been a fan since. We would get high as hell and listen to that LP all night. (Birkenstock,Dreads, and HackySack) related.
