I have a grip of skate videos tucked away in my parents' attic. They will be worth LOOT on electronicbay some day.

Last year, I was going through a dozen boxes of VHS tapes at a local thrift store. Half of my narrowed down selection was 70s-80s action movie trash and the other half being old, store bought tapes with barely legible pencil labeling. A couple of the tapes; viewing them in the back room where they keep all the "expensive" stuff like TVs, VCRs and TV/VCR combos with a few of those battery operated, drum machine keyboards, were Greek-made 80s soft core porn. I didn't buy the tapes and just left them there for another curious soul to watch. Great tale, I know.

I had a large collection of european 70s sexploitation, horror, italian cop movies and just plain weird shit. All OG rental tapes. Took me years to assemble. I used to go on VHS digging trips all over germany and always had tables at movie fairs to sell/trade this stuff. Thankfully I sold of the entire collection back in '96 before leaving the country. With time I lost interest in these genres and the collectors market and prices totally colapsed since DVDs came out.

Still feeling this tingle when walking by the occasional old-school looking video store though...

Got a couple of hundred still taking up space in the loft from bitd. A lot of them are 80s horror movies sourced from dodgy dealings though funnily the ones I'm most reluctant to give up are the taped from TV movies I have ranging back to when I first caught the bug in the eighties. These days pretty much everything I've got is on DVD but the nostalgia of watching a movie with the old adverts in between still gets me.

Totally failed to cash in on the market before it collapsed with the weight of DVDs and Torrents and now about to do the same with my 900+ DVD collection....

  • I unno, a good few hundred. Keep meaning to sell but seems too much effort.

I used to have a shitload, I would say I was a recording maniac and had about 200? I realize that isn't much but I don't know what I have in storage. I would like to transfer some of it to digital, such as some news items I recorded (I was on the news in 1988 around the time Tipper Gore had an influence when it came to the corruption of Prince and W.A.S.P., I was in the crowd for an Accused/Wehrmacht show and I was headbanging with my Spam shirt on) and whatever music video oddities I may have recorded back then (i.e. "Andy Warhol's 15 Minutes" with a video of Steinski's "We'll Be Right Back")

It will be nice to get rid of what I do have, though. I've read on other boards that people are recording more modern shows to VHS because they fear "digital will make them all disappear, but the quality of VHS is not as good as it was in the mid to late 80's". Okay, then.

About 50+. Any joints that Ive copped in DVD have been removed.

Certain joints will never come out on DVD.

I still have some late 80's early 90's Porn that I cant seem to get rid of.

Hundreds!!!!! All kinds of old kung-fu movies, Spaghetti westerns, horror movies, the old NMS DJ battles, crazy old Japanese TV shows, etc. Lots of OG pre-records. NTSC and PAL joints. I still have 3 VCRs hooked up at the crib. I need to transfer a lot of them to DVD one of these days but it will take A LOT of time to do so.

Two NTSC S-VHS decks and one PAL S-VHS deck. I ran a kung-fu movie mail order company for years so I had mad video equipment back in the day. Still have a format converter and rack time base corrector too! LOL.

Been watching all sorts of VHS tapes lately (they're only 50 cents at Goodwill, all you can grab). Last night I watched this...

  • I have around 200 dj-related VHS tapes.. All the skratch piklz stuff, most of the DMCs from 1986-1999, ITFs, NMS battles, lots of random dj footage, etc.. I'm sure some folks on here have done tape trading over the internets before?
