answering my own question from the other thread, here are a few books on New Orleans R&B / Soul, does anyone know of others?     there's another one by Hannusch, but I haven't read it.

    This could have been a better book than it was, but Bernard's dry, scholarly writing style just doesn't work for me.

    I'm blanking on the author, but I remember Up From the Cradle Of Jazz being a really good all-rounder.

  • Earl Palmer's biography gives some attention to N.O. R & B for the first third or so.

    Also Michael P. Smith's New Orleans Jazz Fest a pictorial history. Enough rad photos to tackle a bear.
